BigBlockLyle Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Hey guys, I have noticed a lack of aftermarket wheels for us pickup truck builders, so I went through my wheels to see what I had for 3/4-1 Ton trucks. Found out I have 4 styles of wheels. I am thinking about having a quality caster cast them and make them available and need to know if there is a market for them. Here they are, so please view and vote, and if wanted, please comment. Thank You. PS: The tires are for display purposes only. #1 & #2: Large and Small Turbine wheel #3 & #4: Mickey Thompson Style 8 Hole and Aluminum Slot wheel.
RodneyBad Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I had to Vote for all I'd be perty interested in #3 & #4 most of all. Well, maybe #1 and #2 too.
Mike Kucaba Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I feel there is always a market for things of this nature... the problem is how big.If I were to do this I think it would be a plus to offer tires that fit the wheels.Just my two cents.
mikemodeler Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Mike brings up a good point- often times we have one or the other- wheels or tires! I have a bunch of American Satco tires but few wheels to go with them. I have some Modelhaus tires but no wheels because the I didn't like the ones offered with the tires. I did vote for numbers 3&4 as they would appeal to me the most. Before you have the resin poured for these, I would measure the wheels and see what they fit. While the old Goodyear Wrangler A/T tires are plentiful, I for one would prefer to use something else on a truck build. Alan at Ma's Resin had a wide selection of tires, I would check to see if the wheels you have on your poll would fit any of them and which ones. It may be that despite being the highest vote getter, the winner might only fit one tire while the rest of them fit a broader range of tires. Just my opinion but I would want to know what tires those wheels fit before I buy them.
crazyjim Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I like the 3 & 4 wheels but have to agree that tires could be an issue. I have wheels and tires that I ordered from Ma's Resin and they are top notch items. I'd check with him (Alan) first.
Eshaver Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Lyle, if you're going to do the rear Dual type wheels , go for it . Ed Shaver
Foxer Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) Just to insert somewhere you may soon be able to get a set of 8-lug standard wheels, Ryan Silva was close to finishing a set he has been working on. He is a member here and casts very nice wheels which he sells on ebay. He put some photos of the wheels in my GMC van build as they are exactly what I need for this build. The wheels are pictured about the middle of this page. I don't have any other info on price and when they will be available, so hopefully Ryan will see this and update the info. I don't mean to steal your thunder, Benjamin .. we can use all the 8-lug wheels we can get. All of your proposed wheels look good! Edited January 13, 2011 by Foxer
Nick Winter Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 You got my green backs, I'd have to haveatleast 4 sets each of #3 and #4
