This is the first Duesenberg Model J Town Car. It looks similar to the Murphy-bodied Monogram Town car kit but there are some differences. The body is shorter at the far back end. The roof is not so flat. It has "hard" b-pillars rather than the thin chrome windshield frame as on the Murphy. Old Reveals sanded off and replaced with new made from Evergreen strip styrene. New hood sides with arc-shaped louvers. These were copied from a damaged diecast car.

This is a Judkins Coupe. Modified Monogram Duesenberg Rollston roadster. Body shortened for 142.5" wheelbase. Body narrowed at rear. Heavily modified roof from Monogram 1930 Ford coupe grafted on. Supercharger exhaust holes in fender filled in. Resin hood sides from diecast Duesenberg.

Duesenberg "French Roadster". Body began life as the Lindberg Auburn roadster. It has been stretched and widened. New cowl built up from Evergreen sheet plastic to mate up with Monogram hood and resin hood sides. The fender on the right side has been extended down and made into more of an "envelope" shape, rather than just having an open bottom side. Left one hasn't been modified yet.

Porsche 962 road car. It's a Dauer 962, but not a faithful replica of any one real car. I couldn't find enough photos of any one car to to a detailed model of it. They made several 962 road cars and none were identical. I've made a longer nose and tail. I'm keeping the "stock" radiator intakes in the doors, but the exhaust for that is being moved to the side, just in front of the rear wheels. Wheels and tires from Tamiya 911 GT2 road car.

Very nice, Lee! It's great to see another Duesenberg fan. Most people don't realise what fantastic cars they are. They had a 265 HP engine when the nearest competition was about 160 HP. I love the Judkins coupe. One of those was owned new by a Minneapolis resident Shreve Archer of Archer Daniels Midland - big time grain dealers. Here is a pic of my almost out of the box Rollston Torpedo phaeton.

Nice work 8)

That Judkins coupe looks much like what I want to accomplish with an MPC/AMT '32 Imperial, even if it ends up as a "phantom" 3 window coupe.

Thanks for the compliments, guys.

Andy- that car looks great in black. I have a nearly box-stock Murphy Town car in black with yellow reveals. It just needs a few more parts added to be finished. It's back home though so I can't get a pic for a while. It looks nice though in Tamiya lacquers. Tamiya's tape leaves a really clean edge for two-tone paint.

Lee,

Those are some great projects you have there. I don't know much about those cars, but one thing is for sure: They define the word ELEGANCE in my book :D

Thanks,

I have a tip for those who want a realistic Duesenberg flex exhaust. You know those ultra-cheezy classic car radios that are floating around? One of them is a Deusenberg and while it is quite awful in most respects it has a wound flex exhaust pipe that looks pretty good. Just get a piece of brass rod that fits inside it and bend to shape for each pipe and slip the 'spring' over it and Voila! It looks really good and is a vast improvemment over the injection molded part.

I know you'll hate me for this... That Judkins Coupe would be such a cool Hot Rod!

Nice work on everything... You've got some great projects there.

Not at all. I'm going to get one of ModelMartin's '32 Ford funny car bodies and put a Duesenberg grille on it. I may try to extend the front fenders back a bit. I was thinking of custom decals for it. Something like "Judkins Fiberglass".

Nice work on everything... You've got some great projects there.

Thank you!

The government computer that I'm using now has fotki blocked, so I can't upload photos. I was going to ask if I could e-mail a photo to a board member so they could post. I can't log into my e-mail now, either.

I just wrote a description of the work I did, but deleted it because I think it's pointless and confusing without photos. I did some work on the rear end and deleted the exhaust holes in the r/f fender.

Man I can't wait to get back to my computer.

Lee, you have GOT to find a better employer !!! LOL!!! I was looking forward to more updates on these and now I guess I'll have to wait. Just because you can't post pics, don't forget to take them, I'm gonna need to see waht you're up to, so I can steal more ideas.
