Very nice score!! While I'm not that fond of 4 doors when the same car was produced as a 2 door, I am extremely fond of 57 Fords! Must be all the times I've watched "Thunder Road"

The first kit I ever built was the AMT 57 Fairlane & over the years I've probably built 10 of them. Currently there are 5-6 in my stash, including this unbuilt original Trophy Series first issue:

That one is going to be built with one of the custom options that's no longer in the newer reissues, & the other custom parts in the kit that aren't in the newer ones will grace a reissued kit. :D

I also scored this grail last October, a Hendrix resin body of a 57 Club Victoria:

That one's going to get the street machine treatment, with a 302 out of a Revell 32 Ford.

I'm somewhat fond of 57 Fords, if you can't tell! :D;)

The '57's are indeed one of Ford's finest efforts and I think that the styling far surpassed anything that GM or Chrysler fielded. I know that most guys will disagree but I am just stating my opinion. I have watched "Thunder Road" a few times just to drool over that '57 that Robert Mitchum drove - there's the one scene where he is in town talking to a girl and he is sitting in the Ford. When he pulls away, you can hear the exhaust from the Y block - a 312 I am guessing - it always makes me smile. Sure is a pretty car!!

Your 2 door looks sweet.. I too had a Trphy Series '57 - I want to get another unbuilt one just to set on the shelf... My best buddy when we were in our teens had a Custom 2 door post with a 223 and a 3 speed standard.. I really liked that old car. Another friend of mine at that time had a red white and gray Rideau 500 2 door imitation hardtop.. that was really a pretty car. Ah, but how I long for those days... *sighs* :D:lol:B)

What is the round thing in the middle of the back door?

The round thing is a trim medallion that Meteor put on the side of the 500's. It had the Meteor crest in it. B):D:lol:

And wasn't the Monarch a brand sold by Ford of Canada? I love Canadian Cars.

We had a few unique marques here in Canada including the Monarch, Meteor and the Frontenac which was only built for a short period of time. The Monarch was based on the Mercury platform and the Frontenac was a Falcon. I have a thing for Meteors and I have tyo say that they are by and large, quite forgotten today. Email me directly if you want to talk Canadian cars.. :D:D;)

The recent post on the Resin thread is interesting.. now if only he'd offer a Meteor version of his Ranchero.. *sighs*

BTW, I was doing some reading on the Rancheros for '57 and I wonder if the colors on the one in the pictures is stock.. It sure is a pretty truck though.. <_<:P:)
