Iron Fist Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Does any resin builder make a 03/04 Cobra engine, if not it would be really cool if someone started one.
Jordan White Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 I think your best bet would be the engine from the SVT Lightning. You would just have to switch sides for the intake.

Is the Lightning a current model? The Lightning is a 5.4L with a smaller blower but should be a good starting point, thanks.
Eric Stone Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) The Lightning is a 2-valve engine, and the Cobra is a 4-valve engine, so the cam covers look quite a bit different. The Revell Shelby GT500 kit would be closer, but not exactly accurate for a Terminator. Lightning: GT500: Edited February 24, 2011 by Eric Stone

whale392 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) Best bet is to take the engine from the Revell 1999 Cobra and the upper end from the Revell GT500 and mate them. The intake will need to be narrowed slightly from the GT500 to fit down on the 1999 Cobra block/heads as the GT500 is a taller decked 5.4L compared with the Cobras 4.6L lower deck. But, a good facsimily could be made from the two. You will have to flip the intake/throttle body around to face the passanger side wheelwell, but overall not too hard to do. Kaleb Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 99 cobra is the best bet seeing that there is not much difference in the 99-04 being that its a 4.6 engine. Wasn't it only in 04 they went to the 4v dohc? I would love a wipple supercharger for my 99 cobra i am building. If your referring to the upper intake from the 2005 it is on the drivers side. Btw thank you for this clear picture i've been googling for pics like this for my build.

Also here's a shot of the filter that's in it now. PM me if you need more. Cheers
whale392 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Kaleb, all 1996+ Cobras were 4V heads (DOHC). 1996-early 98 were coilpack 'B' (seperate intake ports) heads. Late 1998-2004 recieved coil-on-plug 'C' (siamesed intake ports) heads. What I mean is that the 'B' heads had 8 intake ports while the later 'C' heads have 4 larger ports.

Then in '05 the 4.6 3-valve engines came out with the new body style. It's a shame Revell hasn't done any other New Edge cars... They need to work on that, and do a GT, 01 Bullitt, 03/04 Cobra, and maybe an 03/04 Mach I... Edited February 25, 2011 by Eric Stone
