  1. Look pretty good for a car that was never made.
  2. WOW absolutely amazing, I think you should seriously consider writing a book on model building.
  3. I don't think Jarius is denying climate change, but climate change due to CO2 emissions is a bit of ######. Mars is also getting warmer, seems to be more of a solar cycle. Anyways, this is pretty cool. http://johnharding.com/2011/01/26/minicat-the-air-powered-car/
  4. Surprized you didn't tear the fenders off at that speed, nice build.
  5. Beautiful build, the glass and paint looks amazing, very realistic.
  6. Thanks for the compliment, I always like hearing stories about cars people use to have or still have so no worries about hi-jacking.
  7. Thanks for the compliment. The plug wire boots looked out of scale to me also in the picture ,when you see the model in person they don't look that bad, the darn macro function on the camera seems to emphasize any item that is even slightly out of scale. Also the tail lights look better in person.
  8. As a model that looks like an interesting and fun build, as a real car the Japanese just keep ruining cars.
  9. I use that stuff also, its also great for sticking in headliners and hoodliners.
  10. Thanks, I had to relocate part of the k-member to fit and lower the engine as I used the larger intake manifold. The tail lights are just taped in from the inside as I may order resin tail lights with red lenes.
  11. Box stock except I added a mesh grill, some wiring, foil and I changed out the steering wheel and engine fan. Thanks for looking.

    New guy

Love that merc, now I have to go buy one.
  13. Great work, that Super is killer; look forward to seeing more of work and welcome to the forum.
  14. Don't replace it, just strip it in brake fluid(let it sit over night) and repaint
  15. The shine on that car car looks right for that era (beautiful model), but Future doesn't come close to lacquer for depth of shine.
  16. I use a small paint brush to apply the Future coat as a little bit goes a long way and having a small amount on your brush ensures that you wont get any pooling. I would also suggest you apply the Future in stages for example on the Mustang I did the roof, hood and trunk and let the Future self level and dry, then I turned the car on its side so it was parallel with the table and did the same procedure. Pratice on plastic spoons until you are comfortable. I have also tried to run Future through my airbrush and had terrible results, I found the best way is applying it with a brush. I also agree that Future is a lousy top coat compared to lacquer.
  17. Can you post a picture of the orange peel? If it is bad just give it a brake fluid bath and start over, practice makes perfect.
  18. WOW, you are making the rest of us look like hacks.
  19. I am both a lazy and persistent modeler. I like using Testors enamels because they are cheap and I have learned to work with them through my airbrush, also I dont like change. My favorite clear coat is Testors Wet Look Clear Lacquer (1834MCA). Well as you probably already know they are not compatible as the clear lacquer will craze and wrinkle the enamel. To solve this problem I used Future as a barrier coat between the enamel and lacquer. I simply brushed on a thin coat of Future over the dry enamel base coat and then sprayed on the clear lacquer once the Future was dry. Here's the results (Edit) Forgot to mention that this is without any wet sanding, polishing or waxing. Thanks for looking.
  20. I will be following this, build away Davin. I think they use to fill the tires with helium so it would jump higher.
  21. Quick update. Second and final clear wet coat (Did it last night) No wet sanding, polishing or waxing. I think I will post a quick tip in the tutorial section on using Future as a barrier coat for lacquer on enamel, the results are fantastic. Thanks for looking and the compliments.
  22. Great build, that last shot is killer.
