Wagoneer81 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I finished this one over the winter and just recently found my camera so I thought I'd post a few... I stretched the frame two inches and scratchbuilt the bed and stakesides. The signboard will get the decals for the company logo "Stone Leaf Farm" after I replace my printer. And, I still need to add the Grandt-Line Nut-bolt-washer castings to the bed sides... maybe a bit of light weathering as well...
Jim B Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 That looks really nice. I like it. I think this is the only way I've ever seen a 1:1 L700. Well, pictures anyway. I've never actually seen a L700.
Guest Johnny Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Nice! When I was a kid the local lumber yard used one to deliver prebuilt trusses and long lumber. They also has a flatbed like you have built with a tilt bed for local lumber delivery! Then Jim a garbage hauler had tandam axle garbage trucks. I tink I mentined before a guy I used to see with a tandam axle tractor and short flatbed thay would be hauling a single steel coil out of a mill in Gary In. He would make several trips a day 5 days a week! I have looked on line but still cannot find one with dual drive. (actually sd with a tag)

Tandem axle L-series with a shorty steel trailer... you just gave me another project idea! Thanks!!! Here's a few more shots. I made these ramps in the off chance I ever wanted to load a car on and go to the local drag strip...lol And, a right side view... The doors were such a bad fit, I glued them into their final positions... The color is Testors Military Flat Medium Green straight from the rattlecan with a glosscoat. Comments AND constructive critiques are welcome. I can't improve my building skills if I don't know what to improve, if you know what I mean... Edited February 28, 2011 by Wagoneer81
The Modeling Hermit Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Sometimes one runs across pictures of a truck model that has that "just right" look to it. This is one of those models.
Kostas Parchas Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Sweet... A very nice and clean built. Kostas.
chrismooney Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Very nice build.... I love the color??? what color is that?? also the chains on the rear really bring out the model...
Wagoneer81 Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 Very nice build.... I love the color??? what color is that?? also the chains on the rear really bring out the model... The color, my friend, is Testors flat (military) medium green from a rattlecan with three coats of Testors Wet-Look clear for that used, not abused look.
hct728(Bob) Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Great job! One of my favourite kits, but it can be a challenge. So now you're going to dirty it up and fill it up with junk? Cool!
Wagoneer81 Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 So now you're going to dirty it up and fill it up with junk? Cool! Hah... That's funny! Actually, this one is going to be a 'survivor', a truck that has been fairly well cared for, used but not abused over the years. It will get a cargo of sorts. It is going to represent a delivery truck owned by a plant nursery named "Stone Leaf Farm". I built this model for my sister who is really into gardening, flowers and such... I'm taking Tamiya 1/35 scale sandbags and turning them into palletized fertilizer, mulch and topsoil bags and I will use G-scale details to provide clay pots, planters, handtools and other nursery related items. So, stay tuned, the truck is finished but it still has to be loaded.
Sergey Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 very, very cool! so nice to see one of these trucks built as something other than a tractor and built so nicely at that. lots of very nice details and touches here that make such a difference. Absolutely agree. Well done! Keep on Trucking!
