I have been distracted with another build (Revell's 62 Impala) but have plugging away here too.

Fuel tank and return line:

The wheels and tires I'll be using - wheels are from Revell 68 charger, rears were deepened with parts from 49 Mercury:

and the engine - working on the valve covers and manifold tonight:

Dude, anyone whom carves their own engine block is my Hero.. wavecrowd.gif

Awesome, accurate workmanship. That transmission looks fantastic! And the intake is looking good too. The fuel cell, spring relocation, Dana, everything looks dead on. Looking forward to seeing this completed. Thanks for sharing!!

Let's see...Spring Break, another build, oh...

I have been chugging away on the transmission. Made some linkages out of silver colored copper wire (from craft store). This stuff is really neat - it's similar to solder but a little stiffer. You can mash the ends easily for linkages, etc.

I am going to have to make some modifications to the pan to fit this transmission in the Dodge. Pictures look like I underexposed a bit.

Also have the manifold just about where I like it...

and the valve covers. Paint is Krylon light texture, or something like that.

Incredible work! I'm curious about how you obtained such a symmetrical shape on the bell housing with a carving. Did you use any special techniques to help you with the symmetry?

As usual from your bench, ****AWESOME**** work on the manifold and v covers!!!!

The trans looks great!

Keep it coming!

How's the progress coming on that beautiful Mopar? goodjob.gif

A few distractions and work on small stuff - worked on distibutor, making clearance on the chassis, etc. If I get some good progress this weekend there will be some photos. Thanks for the interest!

Interest? You have my undivided attention! Well, maybe divided between your Mopar & Randy's wrecker! Two of the hottest builds going on here....

Any updates are greatly appreciated. Thanks for posting your progress. drive.gif

I have enjoyed watching your progress. I did get some of the file a wax, but other projects have gotten in the way of my transfer case. Did the wheels come from the current '68 charger RT 2n1 kit? They look exeactly like what I want for my '48 Jeep pickup project.

I am constantly fighting the "start another project" demons - difficult as ideas are coming along quite regularly.

...but...I have been working on the Indy engine

I need an oil pan, so starting with some styrene strips, glued together along with a small sheet

and after the glue dries and the file gets to work:

closer...

The Missile dry sump pump was scratch built too - one piece of styrene rod, one piece of angle styrene, some hex shaped rod and half round...

The manifold received the fuel rails...

and adding the fuel injectors - six down, two to go...

You can see the Missile pump attached too

Better shots of the pump and completed oil pan with fittings:

Rick - sorry for a delyed response - I use a compass to get a circle drawn out on the wax, cut out the cylinder, then I just set a file on my workbench at the angle I need and start filing. Takes patience and steady hand, but not much else!

what did you use to sculpt the wax? i am really interested in this.. btw.. this is a super insane project and i will be watching this..

Alan - I just use regular tools - mostly a fine 6" flat file, rifler files, and needle files along with a trusty #11 x-acto blade. I purchased some wax carving tools but they really haven't been helpful.

Look! Most of the engine is put together! Distributor is being painted, wires are being cut, air cleaner is being figured out. I had planned on this thing sitting below an unmodified hood - but it's too big and I doubt that will happen.

Now all that is left is everything else! The front end will need to be reworked to fit around the engine. Interior is in construction - red.

Erik-

That engine is a wonderful piece of work. It's great to see the work you do step by step. Makes it look possible to do just by thinking of each part in its basic shapes.

Keep it up.

Wow... smoking good build so far and I'm sure the rest will be as cool. But when will we see more?

You got us on the hook.....and we're wiggling. 4_17_10.gif

I just gave it to Randy, now it's your turn alarm.gif

What's up with that Dodge? I'm a Mopar guy from way-back and this build has my attention BIG TIME. Fantastic workmanship. I can't wait to see current updates and, ultimately, it finished.BRAVO1.gif
