Chuck Most Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Seats can be a bit of a pain to paint- one blast from a spray can or airbrush can knock them over, ruining the paint on the seat back. Simple fix? Take a thick piece of balsa wood and stick the seats to it with looped masking tape, or double sided tape. The wood acts as a base, and your seats won't try to blow away or fall over anymore.
LAone Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 nice idea. you can also use blue tack/poster tack instead of tape. the blue tack is reusable even if paint gets sprayed on.
diymirage Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 since most seat i have are two piece the back is hollow i generally shove a popsicle stick in that hollow and then clamp the bottom of said stick in my paint carousel works for me and...its a great excuse to eat a popsicle
Guest Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I do the masking tape thing as well, but I stick the tape onto a piece of cardboard.
SSNJim Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I use a piece of wood too, but I use the paint stirring sticks available at almost any hardware store. Most of the time they will give them away for the asking. They are very sturdy, and are big enough to allow you to get the seats, console, dash, rear seat and door panels painted at one shot.
george 53 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Yep! Stirring sticks an maskin tape'll work GREAT! PLUS like Jim said, they're FREE!!! (FREE is ALWAYS good!)!
