cruz Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 I built this model approximately 5 years ago but never took any good pictures of it and since I have not shared any completed builds here for a while, I decided to cheat a little and add one more to the Under Glass section This was the first time using the Testor's line of Lacquers but also the reason why I am not using the metallic colors anymore, I thought the flakes were too big. Seat belts are the Photo-Etch ones from Eduards, best ones I have seen and used, everything chrome is Alcladed except the window frame. Dave B Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 (edited) Nice build & paint, GREAT interior!! I don't mind the flake size, it represents a metal flake as opposed to metallic to me. Edited March 22, 2011 by Bantoft
cruz Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 Nice build & paint, GREAT interior!! I don't mind the flake size, it represents a metal flake as opposed to metallic to me. That's exactly why I don't like it, it represents more of a metal flake kind of finish than a metallic.
cotto Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Excellent build as usual Cruz and I agree with you also, although you did a great job on that paint, the flakes do look a little oversized, I've never been too crazy about those paints either. I love what you did with the interior, all those shades of green really compliment the overall build. Did you lower this model? I built one a year or so ago and thought it turned out a bit too high.
bsoder Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Hey man that's not cheating!..as long as you built it..even if it was posted before I might a missed it, and that woulda been a shame, and since it sounds like it's first post then it definately should be here.even if you don't like the paint..do to a recent move and shortage of funds I wont be bldg. for awhile, but I can always take new pics..and have something "new" to contribute
meaneyme Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Looks awesome Cruz, can't believe how well those alcladed parts look, for the life of me, I can't seem to get the alclad to look right even after reading your advice.
oldscool Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Another nice one from you Cruz. Paint looks fine to me. gus
Duntov Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Wow Cruz!!! That is one fine piece of crafstmanship!!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
Cato Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Cruz, Meticulous build, beautiful finish. Just a tip for the future? The comp gas caps go with the latch outboard and the hinge inboard. Like every Cobra model everywhere, the windshield frames are too thick. Keep buildin' 'em...
jeffs396 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Great job Marcos! There are lots of "big flakes" in this world, but they look fine on that Cobra body!
John Teresi Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Wow!!!!.....very nice and 5 years ago?.......man you are good........look`s GREAT.

Cato, you are right, you have a keen eye and I will listen to your advice for the next one I build!
Harry P. Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Thanks guys! Cato, you are right, you have a keen eye and I will listen to your advice for the next one I build! Still wondering where the wind wings are...
Foxer Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 You may not like the flakes, but that paint job over all those curves ISN'T flaky! ...beautiful
stewart Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Very nice build. Is it a curbside or do you have pics of the engine. Great detail. STewart
Cato Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Still wondering where the wind wings are... Wind wings are for Marys-comp and race cars didn't have the stinkin' things!
edward smith Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 The flakes don't look all that big Cruz, I think they are fine as long as you don't take the pictures in direct sunlight. I have a few of these kits and will eventually build one if I ever get some time. The seat belts really do look terrific in that interior and I love the little Puerto Rican flag you added on the dash.
