Through April 2, 2011 Hobby Lobby is having a 30% discount on all their plastic & die cast model kits. That would bring their high prices down to an acceptable level. There's also a 40% off any one item coupon available for any regular priced item.

Our Hobby Lobby isn't even a year old yet, an they NEVER have stuff. They have those Testors die casts and some snap together kits, and MAYBE 3 or 4 new releases, but out of about 30 spaces for stock, only about a dozen are filled with OLD stuff, like AMT's 67 GTO, or military stuff. They have ALOT of paint stuff, like Iwata airbrushes and stuff or compressors, but NOT a whole lot of new or at least NEWER stuff.I asked the lady why there were so many empty spaces, an the ol broad said, "Christmas took ALOT of stock. CHRISTMAS????? Lady, THAT was 5 MONTHS ago!!! Needless to say, I VERY RARELY go there anymore! Is this JUST our HL of do they all seem to suffer from this "lack of stock' problem?

It sounds like your local store isn't re-ordering stock, George. Our local HLs have no problem re-stocking models...even the 1/8 scale Big Tub. My local store gets new stock delivered on Tuesdays, so it usually take two weeks at most to re-stock an empty shelf space.

THAT'S wats REALLY grindin my gears, For SOOOOO long I waited ta get one CLOSE, the two we had were in TOLEDO and Canton! Finally we get one just about FIVE minutes away from me, and the lady who runs the model cars aisle DOESN'T know her patoot from her FOOT!!! Wish we could get someone who at least KNEW a little about the hobby! Yeeesh, Ours is as good as NOT havein one! WHAT a DISSAPOINTMENT!!!!:)

at first i was all excited, then i relaized 2 things...1) they arent open on sundays and 2) i went there last week and spent close to $120 and after standing in the model aisle for over an hour looking, they dont really have anything i either cant live without or dont already have numerous kits of

Maybe you should try to volunteer to help her out, George.

My HL usually has quite a bit of stock but it's the same kits all the time. 30% off is still 30% so i plan to drive up there to check it out. I'll be stopping at Michaels and the LHS along the way.

Jim, they'd FIRE me after a few days caz I'D be orderin my Azz off!!! My wife worked at K-Mart when we were first married, in the TOY department, and she'd let me tell her what to order as far as the models were concerned! THAT was HEAVEN!!! She gave that job up to go back to school, but for those few years, I was ROLLIN in NEW AMT and MPC kits! ;) ;) :);)

We have a Hobby Lobby too and it hardly ever gets anything in unless your looking for military,ships,die-cast items which most around here are not? Been that way for about a year or so now? At least one can still get paints there still. Bad thing is their the only game in town and for people on a tight budget kind of puts a damper on things...nearest real hobby shop is about 100 to 125 miles away haven't been there in years so?

No George - I said volunteer. They can fire you if they didn't hire you. A voluntary advisor type of person. The plan being if they carried more and a larger variety of kits, they would sell more.

Goethe get all the info you can on the store like store number and call the headquarters and complain. Maybe that will fix it.

ly local hobby lobby has a great selection

there are always at least five wierd japanese kits (tamiya or bandai or so babi panghan or something)

they always carry new releases and they seem to have a thing for re releases, stuff like the hippy hemi, the buick electra and such

and though i like shopping on sundays i respect their Christian values and the decision to honour the Sabbath

(though i realise that on our callender the Sabbath falls on a saturday the principle of only working 6 days a week where the pagans work 7 still applies)

one thing i would mention though (if it hasnt been said allready)

with the 30% off models and diecast you can NOT use the 40% off coupon on one of those items

I thought I covered the 40% coupon, but thanks for doing again, Eelco.

Being closed Sunday is fine with me. I'm not exactly a religous person but it's prety cool that a corporation would do that for their people. Chik-a-fil or whateve the name is, does the same thing. Sunday is a heavy shopping day in Ocala and I try to stay away from them, prefering to go during the week. Seems to be less of a crowd.

We have a 60% chance of needed rain tomorrow. That might delay my trip to the big city until Tuesday. My truck is clean and I don't want to get it dirty.

George- Clay is right, get the store info and check with the manager. Tell him how disappointed you are and that your club members are too. Maybe then the selection will change. If not, contact corporate offices.

As a reminder to everyone, they are advertising the shadow boxes and display boxes at 50% off. This means the plastic display cases in the model aisle are 50% off! I found that out one day and have only bought them when they are on sale. I do not have a sealed display case so I buy these when they are on sale for my builds.

The Hobby Lobby's around my area are a hit and miss. Usually after a sale like this one it will be slim pickens for a while, until they replenish the inventory.

Hi, The lady that handles the model kit isle at my HL is very nice and I have given her kit#s of new issue kits and she looks them up to see if they are on her new order list. Sometimes it thats 4-8 weeks for her to get new issue kits(like hemi dart kit). I will be checking with her soon to see if they will be getting the "black widow" kits. BTW michaels stores will accept 50% off johan fabric stores coupons. Steve
