Janne Herajärvi Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Double project about building `67 Chevelles from AMT and Revell kits. Here is couple pics about differences on those kits. More in next post
LAone Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 im tuned in. you can see the differences. so far, which do you think is looking better?
Janne Herajärvi Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 Got Revell body painted today. AMT is still awaiting for color choice Like you see so far from these pics there is many differences about these kits. They both have their good and bad points, and i can tell about those later. Anyways here is what ive done so far. Luis: I think Revell body is better, but AMT gets its points from engine. Chassis are both good to me.
Naydrus Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Engine on the left looks better in my opinion. The intake looks more realistic. Both look nice.. but I would go with #1 if I had a choice.
Keef Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Got Revell body painted today. AMT is still awaiting for color choice Like you see so far from these pics there is many differences about these kits. They both have their good and bad points, and i can tell about those later. Anyways here is what ive done so far. Luis: I think Revell body is better, but AMT gets its points from engine. Chassis are both good to me. why not paint the other one the exact opposite of the first one?
stewart Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I really enjoy builds like this. Good job comparing each. STewart
Janne Herajärvi Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 Thank you guys Naydrus: Left one is AMT engine. Like i said also it looks better. MrSuperbee: I was thinking opposites also, but ill keep my eyes open for something else too. Steve: Thats cool, i didnt know about that comparison build up. It would be cool to read. Sorry hachey these are not for sale
W117monte Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I don't get AMT has 3 humps in the oil pan. The revell trans is more detailed. It's been awhile since I've built the revell one. I'll be watching this build. Your doing a great job.
Janne Herajärvi Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 Yeah, its little confusing with those differences. Thank you. Not much to show, but here is seats. Painted is Revell and white plastic AMT. I try to get more done for next update
Janne Herajärvi Posted April 10, 2011 Author Posted April 10, 2011 Painted some blue today. There is NYPD Caprice and AMT Chevelle. Why Chevelle has only roof, hood and trunk painted in blue? Try to guess More later...
Janne Herajärvi Posted April 12, 2011 Author Posted April 12, 2011 Here are dashes so far. Ill try to finish interiors for next update Revell AMT
DanielG Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Question, some of those differences are huge, which kit is closer to the real car?
Janne Herajärvi Posted April 12, 2011 Author Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) Question, some of those differences are huge, which kit is closer to the real car? Good guestion. Revell body looks better to me, and it has better details. Everything else is 50% points for both, they have their good and bad points. Some Chevelle specialist guy would help with this guestion of accuraty? Edited April 12, 2011 by Janne Herajärvi
Boreham Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 great Idea building them side by side OOB.. proper "Pepsi challange" on the kit.s amazing the differences..!! SS is a sweet lookin car to boot..
crazyjim Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) I'd like to hear from a Chevelle specialist too. Your builds look good - as always. Edited April 12, 2011 by crazyjim
gilsdropshop1 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Hi Jaane, real clean 67 you have going on i like the two tone scheme, i two had the same delema of building both amt and revelle, so i went with amt here are some of my pics! not to steal your thread sorry
Janne Herajärvi Posted April 16, 2011 Author Posted April 16, 2011 Gil your Chevelle looks real good also. I like your interior Here are finished interiors of my Chevelles. Not my best ones but ok. They were little differend and Revell one was little easyer to detail. AMT Revell AMT Revell Cheers...
Janne Herajärvi Posted April 24, 2011 Author Posted April 24, 2011 Thank you AMT body is masked and ready for painting some black Ill show results later, i hope it turns alright.
Janne Herajärvi Posted April 24, 2011 Author Posted April 24, 2011 Black turned pretty good to me. Now little waiting and then i can mask it off
Janne Herajärvi Posted April 24, 2011 Author Posted April 24, 2011 Here is results. Not bad, but could be better. I think someone here got that so called "bad hair day" Yes there was hair midle of the roof, what i didnt notice before i taked masks off. Well now there is tiny blue line from stripe to stripe Some touch up painting and sanding before clear coat should solve problems
Erik Smith Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 (edited) Looks really nice. I like the color combo. I enjoy seeing both kits built for comparison. Edited April 24, 2011 by Coyotehybrids
