Janne Herajärvi Posted April 24, 2011 Author Posted April 24, 2011 Thank you. Here is my wheel choice for AMT. I need to figure how i detail Revell 5-spoke wheels, so ill show them later
Customman Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I see one thing wrong with both of those body's this is coming from memory I didn't check the real body though. That is how the cowl panel is cut on both of them the Revell is the same as the Monogram old '66 Chevelle with the one piece flip top front end. And the AMT has no cowl panel end lines scribed into it at all, or scribe lines on top of the back edge of the front fender where it meets the windshield and the cowl panel. On some of the older cars the very back edge slid up under the edge of the windshield molding and concealed it. Also I would check on the rocker panels where they end and meet the rear Quarter's to make sure there's no joint,if so you would have to scribe them in also.I'm building a '67 AMT and have stopped until I get the time to check out a real car. Anyhow that's my 2 cents worth ! I do think a lot of the Revell detail is better and more realistic like the seats, steering wheel, IP, etc. George
Nova-ss Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I'm not a chevelle guy....but a nova guy.but I do know big blocks.I have built many....in one to one.the one on the left, looks to small and not right.sets to far down in the valley.the intake on the right sets more where it should set, looks more right to me.your builds are going well.....I like both of them.thank you,Chris
Janne Herajärvi Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 Thank you guys for your comments. AMT chassis is on wheels. I need to finish engines for both builds to move forward. AMT has better tires in my opinion. Revell tires dont have any markings and they look too shiny.
Janne Herajärvi Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 I havent forgot these. Ive just been busy with other projects. Now im close to finishing Revell ones chassis, so ill post some pics later.
Janne Herajärvi Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 Sorry about poor pic but i dont have batteries for my camera right now, so i have to use my phone. Here is how revell look with wheels and stance. I post pics from both chassis when i have new batteries. Wheels are custom option of newest release and i really like them. I might get couple kits just for these wheels.
Janne Herajärvi Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 Started polishing job. Roof polished so far. I wanted mirror finish on this one. I think im close. There is some tiny scraches but i think i can live with them. Lots fo work to do...
Janne Herajärvi Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 Thank you Drago. Im just trying to do my best
Bridgebuster Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Nice builds! Black is such a cool color for the 67. I'll be starting one of these soon for a childhood friend who had a 1:1 67 in Ivory with a BVT. Hope I can build as cleanly as you are.
Janne Herajärvi Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 Phil sounds cool. Dont forget to share some progress with us when you start.. and thank you
Janne Herajärvi Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 Revell body has got her first clear coat. I must do little sanding becouse of some dust, but not bad at all when its done with brush
Mr. Moparman Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I might get me one of the Revell kits. They both look good
Belair2k Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I've done a few of the Revell kits and prefer them. The intake manifold on that AMT engine looks like it's from another kit; doesn't fit nearly as well as the Revell. Love the painting!
Janne Herajärvi Posted June 24, 2011 Author Posted June 24, 2011 Thank you guys! I think Revell kit is little more accurate or atleast easyer to detail.
Janne Herajärvi Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 I got AMT body clear coated too. There is some imperfections but these arent going to be masterpieceshowmodels so im ok with them Cheers...
Ron a.k.a. Grouchy Pants Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Couple of really nice cars you have there, nice work. I love the black with blue stripes, I had a 71 chevelle when I was younger that was the same color, black with blue stripes.
Janne Herajärvi Posted July 16, 2011 Author Posted July 16, 2011 Thank you guys AMT got some foil too... Cheers...
Janne Herajärvi Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 Little update again. Engines are getting close. also Revell custom wheel after some blackwash
Monty Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Little update again. Engines are getting close. also Revell custom wheel after some blackwash These are going to be sharp models when you're done, but for accuracy's sake, please reposition that carb.
Greg Pugh Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I've never built AMT's version but I've built two of Revell's. I've always thought this kit was very well executed except I felt like they could've made the rear taillight/bumper assy fit better into the body. Otherwise, it's one of my favorites. Nice work with both of these. They look FANTASTIC!!
Janne Herajärvi Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Thank you guys. Monty: Maybe i followed too much instruction, these arent builds where i take tons of reference. Its super clued so i have to leave it on that position, oops
Janne Herajärvi Posted July 20, 2011 Author Posted July 20, 2011 More progress with AMT. Dont look too close those plug wires
