Danger Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Is anyone aware of a plastic or resin kit of the AMX/3? This is a great looking car that never made it past the prototype stage. Thanks Danger
Eshaver Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Adam, the only thing I ever recall was a vacum Formed clear slot- racing body back in I'd say about 1966. Even then, it lacked a lot of needed detail . Finding a good one today............. a real lucky shot ! Ed Shaver
MrObsessive Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) IIRC, I believe Guido Fieuw (sp) of ScaleKraft made one years ago in resin--------or one was in the works before he had his bad accident. I've not seen one built, nor do I know if he still has the molds/master, or if anyone else got a hold of 'em when he let go of the business. From what I had seen, it was quite nice! Zoom Zoom Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 AFAIK, nothing was ever done as the car was much later than 1966. I'm kicking myself as there was a yellow one locally for years owned by an AMC collector, and he sold it to collector Knox Kershaw of Alabama; when he showed the car at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, I struck up a conversation w/him and he invited me to his collection to photo/measure the car as I wanted to make a master. Well...I never had the chance to go there and he subsequently sold the car. I doubt Scale Kraft was doing the model...I would have known about it. He was working on a Mangusta which looked good but never got past the master stage. Nothing came of his masters/molds since he retired.
Keef Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 The AMX/2 is even sexier: id drive the wheels off those 2 cars!!!!!

Hmmm..............I remember seeing a car on his website that looked a lot like the AMX/2 shown above. That very well could have been the Mangusta you mentioned Bob. I'll bet there's a Hot Wheel or something similar of that AMX/3! Seems like they always do the obscure stuff us plastic junkies don't get!
Zoom Zoom Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 The yellow car is the one that used to be located near me and was owned by George Doughty and Knox Kershaw. I really wish I'd taken Mr. Kershaw up on his offer when I could
Darin Bastedo Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I've been researching the AMX/3 for a few years. It's on my to-do list. As a resin kit I would think it would have to be a curb-side as there isn't a good platform on which to base the mechanicals on.
