Nick Winter Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 (edited) What this is going in is a secret for now. Parts by Parks Pre-wired Distributer + Coil Smallblockdodge resins M/T valve covers Parts box everything else. let me know what you think. Nick Edited May 16, 2011 by Nick Winter
my80malibu Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Nick Engine detailing is one of my favorite things to do when modeling.I would like to give you a couple of suggestions.first shorten the spark plug boot material on the lead you have going to the coil.second, the holes you have drilled out of the valve covers are a little too large. I mean you only have to slip the plug wire into the hole.If thats what you are planning? Hemis usually require a large round spark plug boot. I usually punch out some thin small disk's out of the rubber material that I get from Photo etched pieces that do not use a "fret" (nothing goes to waste here). However Replicas in Miniature of maryland does offer some very cool looking resin spark plug boot's for the Hemi. Thanks for posting and keep up the good work.

I plan to shorten the Lead that was a mock up for the photo, I do have apropriate sized boots for the Valve covers, but I'd love for you to sow how you do yours, they might be better then what I have. Dragline Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 You're stepping it up Nick. I for one am pleased. It looks GREAT. Bob
diymirage Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 looks like someones has got thier hands on a dodge dart kit but this little hemi isnt going in a dart is it Nick? its allright, you can tell us, what do you have planned for it ? (im guessing something like a miata or an is2gay)
ChrisPflug Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 (edited) It's an AMT Hemi- not one from the Revell Dart And the cross ram says "race hemi rather than street" I'd imagine it's going into something that wouldn't take it in the 1:1 world... Edited May 6, 2011 by ChrisPflug
highway Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 It's an AMT Hemi- not one from the Revell Dart Exactly Chris, it almost looks like one from a Coronet Pro Street kit, or at least it's stock counterpart. I've got me enough of those Pro Street kits to last a lifetime or two!

Patrick2005 Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Gotta love a Hemi.......................whatever it's goin in!
Foxer Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 What did you use for chroming the valve covers? Whatever it was it looks really good. And, a wild guess on the receiving body .. a GMC Truck!
Nick Winter Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 Dragline: thank you. Eelco: Not from the Dart got it from a modeller in a trade some time ago. I'll address what in a minute. Chris: your correct from what I was told it's an AMT, as for the race thing, I've seen the Cross-Rams in a few Street Machines and that's where I based my idea from. Mike: I used Aluminum BMF, and no it's not going in a GMC Big hint time: It's going in a FoMoCo vehicle, and the Vehicle will wear a set of 60's Halibrand Magnesium Wheels. Right now some are going "I know, I know!" other are going "What the heck kinda hint is that!" Nick
Nick Winter Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 Back at it, had to wait for a PE set, and the kit it's going in, made my own plug boots, added PE Wire Looms. Nick
Nick Winter Posted May 16, 2011 Author Posted May 16, 2011 Since I got the car and have started it, It's no longer a secret. PE grille test fit: Should be done by Next May at my rate so far. Nick
Nick Winter Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 Wow, forgot about this Project. Still got a lot to do on my engine, and the rest of the Rod, the Hemi fits though! Nick
GTMust Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 OK Nick..... I'm going to guess that you're going to put the engine in a '32 Ford 5 window........ did I guess right? (Perhaps I should have posted this guess before?????) Keep it going.... I like it! Tony
crazyjim Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Looking good, Nick. What's the source of those carbs?
Dr. Cranky Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Wow, great solid detailing so far. Please keep it going.
Nick Winter Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 Tony: That is correct Tony, better late then never as they say. Jim: Thanks Jim, Pro Tech, they are cast metal, I just polished and detailed them. Doc: Thanks Doc. I'll definatley be continueing on this project, got my motivation back on it. Nick
oldscool Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Nice engine! It will twist the frame in that Deuce gus
Rob Z Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 That's really gonna be a mover and a shaker... Looks great so far Nick, the engine detail is superb, I can't wait to see where this one is going... Gonna keep an eye on this one...
Nick Winter Posted August 27, 2011 Author Posted August 27, 2011 waiting on the headers..... Try to figure them out myself, I've never made headers before so it's new to me. Nick
Jantrix Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Try to figure them out myself, I've never made headers before so it's new to me.Nick Yeah, because of the shape of the head and the curve of that front fender you're going to have a real chore ahead of you if you plan on making a zoomie type header fit. You see very few fendered deuces with zoomie headers because of this. I think you'de be better off just going straight down with a standard header for a hemi and then make some exhaust pipes that exit before the rear tire. The MPC 67 Charger street machine had a nice set of headers.
