Hey Rom, when are you going to get back to that wrecker that you was building before? That was looking good.

That Page in history has been closed Bro, sorry to say it but I knew I was never gonna finish it and I needed to move on. Besides Bart is right the next mission is gonna have some heavy equipment in it. pullin all the stops.

I have been thinking about biting the bullet and getting a Sherline Mill and using Dave's tried and true technique on wheels. Maybe with the Camaro, I might have to spend some extra moohlaahh and get me one.

</p>What is this "Dave's tried and true technique"? Is it here on this forum? TIA

Yeah dave showed how he makes tires in one of his builds about a year ago .

I read today over in the General Section, he is getting out from under that project and moving on... Probably because he just plopped down some cash on his new 69 camaro project. :D It is a sad day for sure, because just the couple of pages that I was reading up on it, ROM was doing some killer work on it to look like the newer Kenworth like in the TV series Wrecked for O'Hare Towing.

Dont make me cry Bart :( but seriously go finish checkin that build out it got really good , I went back through it yesturday and I almost changed my mind about getting rid of it. But like you said I had to get from under that one cause I realized I wasnt gonna get back to it. I just didnt have it in me anymore. I have a rule for building "Dont stop till its done" cause if I do stop I'll never pick it back up. I have a couple builds 15 and 20 years old that never made it back to the bench.

it's daunting task to build one of these cars and i hear ya romell. wait 'til ya have to build it all from scratch, like i do.....LOL! although it's gittin' a little easier up in in 1/8 lately. lookin' good and keep after it. you can't start the next one 'til this one is done!!!!

Great ingenuity on the battery post clamps, I would have never thought to do that.

ROM, you realize you need to slow down on this build, Right?.... Take time and smell the roses. I can't have you starting on that Camaro just yet... LoL... I can't afford more parts just yet!

j/k... In all honesty you are doing a fantastic job.

Oh I do have one question, and I think this has come up before in other threads. Do Pro Mods run one or two batteries? Since they don't have starters or I should say are not required to self start, I think Dave said something about most run a smaller second battery for the electronics or something?

Posted

Bart, from what I've seen of the rules (NHRA,ADRL), you can run one or two batteries but no more then 2, from what I've seen, most cars seem to run 2. Also looking at the rules most of the P/Ms do have to be self-starting, the nitrous cars do run a starter system & I think (not sure) that the blower cars run a starter also.

You are correct Richard some cars do run self starting systems some dont and most of the Promods Ive seen run two batterys. Thanks for the great compliments Bart but rest assured I have alot of work ahead of me before i get started on the camaro.

Rom, serious detail man....very cool. Keep it up!!!

Thx Jeff got a little more detail to add to the collection

I wanted to beautify the already beautiful rims that Jim a.k.a. Micro Nitro turned for me so lets get on with it shall we.....

I took these and drilled them for valve stems from Robert at RB Motion....

rimdetail003.jpg

I also drilled out each hole in the beadlock plate for .031 dia. socket head cap screws also from RB Motion....

rimdetail001.jpg

Heres the rear rim put together with all the new details, valve stems and socket head.....

rimdetail004.jpg

also drill the front rims for stems too....

I was about to ask the same question. Great looking rims there Rom. Each of your builds is a stunner and this one doesn't disappoint.
