crazyjim Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Sweet looking ride, Lee. Did you get the chassis situated correctly? It appears that the body is sitting too high off the chassis.
Erik Smith Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Nice looking build. I love the flathead and color. Don't see this kit built up stock too often. Looks like the driver's side is higher than the passenger side - judging by the front wheels relation to the fender. It could be the angle of the photo. Thanks for showing us your build.
Guest Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Yes, the driver's side is a bit higher. It was that or 1 wheel off the ground. I didnt want to wreck the build by tearing it apart. Lazy I guess, lol.
Jon Cole Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Nice build! I am wondering if that color is raw plastic, or if you painted it? Opening the hood came out nice, I would be interested to know how you did it. Is there an underhood insulation? On the 1:1, the top of the hood also folds up along the center. I haven't mastered any of that yet, always willing to learn. Oh! Also nice touch on the pinstripe!
charlie8575 Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Chassis fitment aside, wow that looks great. I'm with Jon, Lee, how did you do the hood? Charlie Larkin
Guest Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Thanks guys. The colors are as follows, America's Finest By Rustoleum HD 2895 Almond on the body and fenders, Krylon 2108 Banner red on the wheels. The pin strip is actually part of a red stripe for a 67 Impala from The Last Detail. The hood I simply glued the sides to the top in the upright position. I had them glues down, but after assembly realized the rear of the hood wouldnt fit down on the cowl without gluing it in place. I wanted to keep the engine visible, and hadnt painted or removed pin holes on the underside, so I made insulation from some speaker gasket material, not correct, I know, and glued the sides in that position, and glued the hood on so i can still see the engine.
my66s55 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Lee, thank you for posting your build. This is a beautiful representation of of the 34 Ford. I congradulate 100% on a beautiful build.
62rebel Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 the insulation is a nice touch but Ford never put any on the hoods of this type of car. all in all, however, for a kit most builders despise, you've done a fine job on!

Yes, I know. I put it there because of the above mentioned reasons. I know it's not factory correct. Thanks for your kind comments.
Jim Gibbons Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Nice job, Lee; it's refreshing to see a '30s Ford built stock. By the way, I'm also a former Army Engineer; HHC 854th Engr Bn '79-'91
Guest Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Thank you Jim, and a thank you and salute for your service.
