Modelmartin Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I could just about scream everytime I see someone (and there are a lot of people including some boxart artists!) who seem to think that everyone's favorite gasser material is called a Willy's. IT IS NOT THE PROPERTY OF A GUY NAMED WILLY. Willy's is possesive. The actual and real name of the car is Willys. The founder of the company was named John North Willys. It is disrespectful to so casually misspell his name especially after he gave us such cool cars. The second syllable is pronounced like the name Chris. Always has and always should be. And yes I am a spelling nazi and a snob, etc, etc. so don't even bother complaining about me and my superior attitudes. Sheesh!

I'm surprised that you found time to spare in your very busy schedule of doing "Important Things" to make this post. And of course you are correct... it's pronounced "willis," as in "Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis?"
Darin Bastedo Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 And yes I am a spelling nazi and a snob, etc, etc. so don't even bother complaining about me and my superior attitudes. Sheesh! Your attitude isn't superior...My attitude is!
sjordan2 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 (edited) Oh yeah? My attitude is even more superior, and I'll prove it: Andy, you may be a grammar Nazi, but "everytime" is not one word, it's two – "every time." At least you spelled "misspell" correctly. Nanny-nanny-boo-boo. By the way, what happened to the original Willys thread? Edited June 18, 2011 by sjordan2
Zoom Zoom Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 If it's a Willy's, it has Crager wheels, and the builder drives a Camero. *insert missing Ninja smilie here*
Harry P. Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Did you ever see the Bugs Bunny episode where Elmer goes to the auto mechanic's shop to ask about his buddy Willy's car? "When will Willy's Willys be weady?"
Harold Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 (edited) If it's a Willy's, it has Crager wheels, and the builder drives a Camero. *insert missing Ninja smilie here* And it is painted burgandy ...John North Willys was a car dealer who sold Pope- Toledo automobiles. When the company couldn't supply any cars, he went to Toledo and essentially bought the place lock, stock and barrel and hung his name on the door. Edited June 18, 2011 by Harold

As long as we're on the subject of Willys, can we see more?
Chuck Most Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Ed- Thanks! That's the first non-gasser, non-hot rod, totally factory stock Willys I've ever seen, in 1:1 or model form!
Eshaver Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 (edited) Mo Wyillis cars ehh............. EdShaver Edited June 18, 2011 by Eshaver

Remember , always have some kind of a camera handy ! Ed Shaver That's what I love about your builds, Ed. There's always something I saw as a kid, and that goes for the gas stations. The finishes on your cars are perfect for the time. Send me back to family vacations on Route 66, where I got beaded Indian belts and moccasins at roadside curio stands. Modelmartin Posted June 19, 2011 Author Posted June 19, 2011 Gee, Andy... I'm surprised that you found time to spare in your very busy schedule of doing "Important Things" to make this post. I know! I was researching Blower Bentley dashboards for some guy!
