Kauai420air Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 (edited) This is my chevy crew cab dually in the work. Please comment Edited June 22, 2011 by Kauai420air
hemi Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I love it,did you make the body or is that a resin body?
Brokentail58 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I love the look of your truck . Will have to keep an eye on this one.
highway Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Even though I'm not really too big on "slammed in the weeds" anything, I tend to look past that when it comes to duallies!! I can't wait to see where you take this! By the way, what are the wheels from and where did you find such a nice center cap for the front wheel?
Kauai420air Posted June 21, 2011 Author Posted June 21, 2011 Thanks guys for the nice words. The cab and bed are from resin motor replicas. I section the stepside fenders from the 65 chevy stepside kit. Hey highway the center caps are from the same 65 chevy stepside kit. Its the center caps for the steel rims. I got more pics to come. A full frame and cantilever air ride suspension. And the motor is a Ross Gibson prostock engine. Pretty wild build. But so fun. Thanks again aloha from Kauai, Hawaii
highway Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Hey highway the center caps are from the same 65 chevy stepside kit. Its the center caps for the steel rims. Thanks Rylan, I would have never guessed they came from a pickup kit!! I just wish the big rig kits I normally build would have center caps that nice!
raymanz Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Diggin It-Way to think in a different direction. Those are Cool lookin Chevy's anyway but, you've taken it to a Better level-Good Job!!!
pepperdrumstix Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 I know that Chevy--GMC made some of these back in the day without the dualies. Some were 4X4s and made for utility companies and others were custom ordered for big outdoor mining and logging companies. Dodge made some as far back as the late '50s with crew cabs and even 4x4s. I like what you are doing here. Paint it some wild color and put a boat and trailer with it. Keep us posted please. Patrick M
crazyjim Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 (edited) I like the idea, but the rear fenders don't seem to match the body lines of the rest of the body. Any plans to address that? Edited June 22, 2011 by crazyjim
Skydime Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 (edited) I think that's what he was referring to on the sectioned bedsides. Once they are filled, I think it will all match...though I'd bring down the dually fenders at the top just a tad if the wheels will permit. Edited June 22, 2011 by Skydime
Kauai420air Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 Here are some update of the 65 crew cab here is the frame in the works
LAone Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 hey bro, this is looking great. the frame looks good. looking forward to how you do the front.
Skydime Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Wow, this is coming along great. Glad to see you stayed with the body drop look with it. Duallys that lay rocker are crazy.
mrm Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I really like this. I don't think I have ever built a single truck in my life (with exception of a couple of street rods) but always liked seeing them in the magazines and shows. This thing is going to be quite big too. How long is it?
Kauai420air Posted June 27, 2011 Author Posted June 27, 2011 Hey guys got some updates on my crew cab. Made some front control arms still got to do some body work on it. Also made some rear shock still got to make the external resevors for them with braided line. Mounted the twin air tanks. And some pics of the motor. I do custom Airbrushing and pinstriping on real vehicles as my business. I still have hard time to decide what color the truck will be. I'm stuck between a dark true blue with mini flakes on the roof . Or HOK root beer kandy base coat. Please comment. Aloha
Skydime Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 This is great! Wish I had this in a 1:1. Keep up the excellent work.
GOTH KUSTOMS Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 How can you comment on something looking so AWESOME to begin with? I would go with the rootbeer, just my thought.....
Skydime Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 I think you should finish it, blow it up to 1:1 and park it in my driveway. Can't wait to see it with some color.
Mad Slammer Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Where did you get those rims? ? ? They're really nice. . .
Kauai420air Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 Where did you get those rims? ? ? They're really nice. . . The rims are from the peterbilt kit. The rear is the same wheels just with 23 inch aluminum sleeves for a deeper dish. Got some primer on the truck still doin the final body work on the bed will have some updated pics. Aloha from Kauai Hawaii
SSNova70 Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Have you finished the truck and if so could you post a link? This truck is just plain wicked bro!
