southpier Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 ... hypodermic tubing and rod ends from R B Motion.... could i ask your source for this tubing? i assume you can get it in reasonable quantity rather than a googled medical supply 1,000 piece order. thanks
Davewilly Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Very cool Fiat! Them a the willy's are my favorite drag cars. You really did a awesome job on this one! Sorry I missed the DCS this year I would have loved to see it in person.
gasser59 Posted August 8, 2012 Author Posted August 8, 2012 Thanks for the comments guys. Well, I'm not happy with the paint job so the body's going for a swim in the purple pond.
Mooneyzs Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) could i ask your source for this tubing? i assume you can get it in reasonable quantity rather than a googled medical supply 1,000 piece order. thanks Hey Joe there is a place called Smallparts.com but it now is part of amazon and they have a bunch of different materials. here is a link to the tubing: http://www.amazonsup...Keywords=tubing they have many different sizes to choose from as well as lengths of tubing. I have been meaning to place an order myself. Another source for small tubing, stainless or brass... is slot cars tubing http://www.ebay.com/...#ht_1983wt_1163 http://www.ncphobbie...m/metal-tubing/ there is another one I was trying to think of but can't find it. Hopefully that gets you headed in the right direction. It may of been this one... http://bracket500.com/jds/jds2009.pdf or http://bracket500.com/links/links1.html Thanks for the comments guys. Well, I'm not happy with the paint job so the body's going for a swim in the purple pond. Hey Brad.... Let me know if you wanna borrow my Air Brush Edited August 9, 2012 by Mooneyzs
Danno Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 This is an incredible model. Pictures are amazing but don't even do it justice.
southpier Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 ...a place called Smallparts.com.... thanks (just getting caught up with my reading!)
vintagedragfan Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 hows it coming Brad? we all want to see this gorgeous thing completed!
GoatGuy Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I just read the whole thing. N ot sure how I missed it. Terrific detail and quality.
gasser59 Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 (edited) Well, this one has stalled long enough. Its been stripped of the original paint and shot with Tamiya Fine White Primer, which has been sanded and hopefully this weekend it'll get the first layer of paint. I noticed its supposed to rain on Saturday so I may get delayed once again. Edited March 6, 2013 by gasser59
gasser59 Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 (edited) With a few good weather days, I was able to lay down a few coats of paint on this bad boy. I redid the decal colors so they would match the Hugger Orange of the body and printed them out on Testor's clear water slide decal paper. I'm in the process of raiding my decal stash for black pinstriping to lay down where the two colors meet. The nose piece will be a challenge with all of the curves and I'm hoping I won't have to go in with a fine black marker and do it by hand. Here's where I'm at for the moment. DSC9 is next month so I gotta keep at it. Thanks for looking in and for your patience. This is taking entirely too long. Edited August 22, 2017 by gasser59
Mooneyzs Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Brad... this is just gorgeous bud and turned out great. I have to admit I like this paint scheme better than the solid orange you had before. Man this thing is sure sweet. Great Job on it!!
brett Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Thanks for looking in and for your patience. This is taking entirely too long. Yep, entirely. But the waiting has paid off, cause it looks great ! Good luck with the pinstriping cant wait to see it
