58 Impala Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 I finally got the new issue,it's good...except...8 pages on customizing HotWheels!? Really. Neat idea, cool looking cars-but maybe only a couple of pages worth.
Darin Bastedo Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 I finally got the new issue,it's good...except...8 pages on customizing HotWheels!? Really. Neat idea, cool looking cars-but maybe only a couple of pages worth. Unless like myself you are interested in that then it is a treat. There are many facets of the model car hobby, not just 1/25 scale plastic.
Eshaver Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Wait till yer eyesight is as bad as mine . Then you will beg to do 1-25th scale . Meanwhile , enjoy the little ones while ya still can........... Ed Shaver
58 Impala Posted July 7, 2011 Author Posted July 7, 2011 I've customized, detailed and painted HotWheels and Matchbox cars in the past. I agree with Ed about older eyes, you need some good magnifiers (for us older folks)to see some of the smaller detail. I enjoy messing with the smaller scale cars occasionally, but this magazine rarely gives any plastic project or how-to that many pages.

MCM offers 8 page plastic how-to's all the time! In fact in the August issue we have a 10 page plastic how-to coming.
Eshaver Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Son as I can find muh Cane Harry, I'll gop to the store , mabye find me one dem new fangled things called Magazine ! Ed Shaver
Art Laski Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I thought it was pretty cool. If I didn't already have a growing queue of unfinished projects, I'd be interested in doing a few right now.
george 53 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Got mine yesterday and I was VERY pleased with it. I didn't mind the Hot wheels article, not MY speed, but ALOT of guys dig them. I Liked the Funny car article. All in all, ANOTHER GREAT ISSUE! Thanks,Gregg,Harry,Mark an crew!
Steven Zimmerman Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I agree with what George said 100 percent ! I have a whole box of 'Hot Wheels' projects in a box, even a '56 Nomad with a chopped roof, this article may motivate me to finish one ! I read (and re-read,and....) every article in both Model Cars and Scale Auto; usually something helpful no matter what the subject !.....'Z'
seeker589 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I am a little disturbed. Only a little - I'm not losing sleep or anything. Why is it that when anything scale made of metal is published in Model Cars Magazine - people come out of the woodwork with complaints about how it shouldn't be there - Yet when some of us detail our plastic models - we use photo-etched parts made of metal and it is OK? Please keep an open mind. The examples and techniques used in articles you don't like may just may inspire and influence your next build. There is room enough for all of us here.
Monte's Motors Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Well I will have to agree with this topic. This reply is with ALL DO RESPECT going out to any and all. In a hobby that some say are nothing more than play toys for kids. It's hard to take a Hot Wheels story and feel respect for my hobby that I LOVE SO MUCH.

Sixx Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 MCM offers 8 page plastic how-to's all the time! In fact in the August issue we have a 10 page plastic how-to coming. Woo-hoo!!! can't wait!!! Ther are other mags dedicated to just die-cast, but whatever, the guy did some awesome paint work! My 2-cents...Sixx
seeker589 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 What's such a big deal about some little tiny stolen cars? {Think about it, boss. } They were STOLEN!? I just can't condone that.
Steven Zimmerman Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 The ONLY PROBLEM I have with Model Cars Magazine?.............Is that its not a 'weekly'.....'nuff said....the Z man
Scale-Master Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 What's such a big deal about some little tiny stolen cars? Uhhh, I have the reciepts for them Danno... Steal a 92 cent toy car? What am I missing?
Agent G Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Way back in the early 80's the headline read: "Cops recover hundreds of stolen cars but it's no big deal." Two friends worked a string of burglaries and recovered an entire stolen HotWheels collection, something like 200+ cars as I recall. G
Rob Hall Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I have no idea what this thread is about...I thought a phonebook was the darn heavy yellow thing that appears by my front door and gets promptly recycled.. :?
Danno Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Uhhh, I have the reciepts for them Danno... Steal a 92 cent toy car? What am I missing? Relax, Mark. A little play on words. Just my twisted sense of humor sneaking to the surface again. Hot Wheels. As an auto theft detective, I always got a kick out of the product name. But, save the receipts and tiny little pink slips, just in case!
Harry P. Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I have no idea what this thread is about...I thought a phonebook was the darn heavy yellow thing that appears by my front door and gets promptly recycled.. :? "The new phone book is here!" is a quote from the movie "The Jerk." Try to keep up with the tour group, willya??? (BTW... I'm with you. What does that have to do with MCM?)
Rob Hall Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 "The new phone book is here!" is a quote from the movie "The Jerk." Ahh....I haven't seen that movie in 25 years probably..
Terry Sumner Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 That was a great movie. Right after we saw it, I got my wife a kitten...and his name somehow became the same name as Steve Martin's dog in that movie!...17 years we had that cat....
george 53 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Well he may have been called ****head, but he WASN'T ,caz he stayed safe at home for all them years! Smart cat.
Scale-Master Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 (edited) That was a great movie. Right after we saw it, I got my wife a kitten...and his name somehow became the same name as Steve Martin's dog in that movie!...17 years we had that cat.... You named the cat Lifesaver? Danno, I totally missed that... Sadly I even thought about it for a minute... At least I knew where the thread name came from. One of my favorite lines is "He hates these cans!"
