Hi, What is it with some ebay sellers who refuse to use the fee paypal shipping service? If you get paid with paypal, use the paypal account balance to ship your items. You get a discount and free delv conf. I sell on ebay and I would never ship anything with out some kind of tracking and if it is worth more than 10.00, I buy the insurance. The tracking and insurance is just a little CYA for the seller. Steve

There's no IQ test required to sell on ebay... you're dealing with the general public in all its glory.

Yes indeed truly spoken..well "written" for that matter..Cheers to all :D

As somebody who occasionally dives into eBay as a buyer and a seller, I say, 'No truer words have ever been spoken!'

Paypal makes it so easy to print postage and labels and to ship with USPS Priority Mail, I wouldn't think of doing it any other way. But.... some people think they're smarter doing it 'their way'...

Everyone is stupid to someone. Long as the shipping fee is reasonable and I get my item quickly, in good order and it's what was represented I'm a happy camper. They could use Western Union and the Pony Express for all I care. B)

On a related note, it's baffling to look at automotive kit auctions and find anything from aircraft to tank models. How can ppl be so stupid? :P:mellow:

HI Jon, Yes, that bugs me too. I think sometimes it is new ebay sellers that really don't know were to list their items that mis-list items. But, on the other hand, I know of buyers that have gotten some "once in a lifetime" deals because of "mislisted" items. Steve

I have to disagree.

I don't use the eBay PayPal shipping unless I have to for some reason.

I almost always go to USPS and log in to my account, and ship it from there.

Sure it only saves me a couple of quarters some times, but with eBay and PayPal hitting me every time I fart, I try and pinch as many pennies as I can.

If you pay online with USPS, you do save money

PayPal/eBay probably pockets that online payment discount themselves

When I worked at a mail order warehouse we used to save 33% on USPS shipping with our online account and we only shipped about $20,000 in shipping cost a month. If we got a 33% discount on that much of a shipping amount I bet Ebay gets a even bigger discount considering that they probably pay $10,000 or more in shipping a week. So if Ebay charges you the normal USPS discount rate and them selves get just 33% off the shipping. That means they make an extra few bucks off of you AND they fee your cost of shipping. Which means not only are you giving ebay more money with the higher shipping amount you are paying an extra fee on that higher shipping. Talk about double dipping or is it triple dipping by that point.

I see and hear these complaints all the time...if you don't like it don't buy.

I don't look for "rare" "vintage" etc kits...they find me. I'm not big into learning whats original or reissued if I like it I will buy it. Here is a tip for those who like to buy off ebay.. go to the top and click on "ending soonest" then go and add your top dollar in(me I usually put 5). I get great deals sometimes, and sometimes I have to keep waiting because its usually a couple days off. And I usually pick shipping between 5 and 8 bucks. Like my wonderful wife she won a camaro off ebay just a little while ago. I had no idea she bid on it. Well for four bucks and eight dollars shipping along with my dollar or so in ebay bucks she got it for eleven dollars. Cant beat that with an ugly stick on the clearance aisle at HL or Michaela. The other day I got an escalade still shrink wrapped and yes I checked it on the inside with factory sealed on the inside for 10 bucks, shipped. These are a couple of success stories that I have had and Ive been a buyer for years on ebay.

One thing I have been doing which saves a ton of money (of course I use eModelCars as much as I can as well), is to use Garage Sale to sell the stuff on eBay.

It's a Mac program that works unreal!!!!

If I choose the use Garage Sale image servers, I can post an item with a ton of pics, and not get charged for a single one.

There is even an iPad version for it now!!!

I asked them to get a quote to work on one for eModelCars, but I think that would be about $10,000, at least!!!!

ouch....
