I decided to start building the re-issue of the Revell Futura which is the show car used to create the batmobile. The multi-piece body requires some body work! 2011_0428Spock0056.jpgrear view 2011_0428Spock0057.jpghood 2011_0428Spock0058.jpg

I plan on using the chassis and engine from the AMT '57 Chevy street rod kit.I had to cut the floor pan from both sides to make it fit.I will paint it pale green metallic which I custom-mixed using Tamiya Chrome silver and a small amount of clear green.Should come out pretty well when I get everything to fit!

Since the engine is a big block with a high rise intake and carb,i had to cut a hole in the hood to get it to close..i covered the hole with a hood scoop taken from the hood of the Penske '66 Vette! 2011_0514Spock0001.jpg

Both this car and the Club de-Mer have always mystified me even though I know Marty Martino who built the Clone of the 55 Pontiac de Mer personally. I was always skeptical of the Kodachrome shots I have seen over the years as Kodachrome always shifted to Red in a short period . Ford seems to have never shot anything in color too. I know they used a lot of old Dupont films and they too wern't very stable over time too. A most interesting project ! Ed Shaver

I'm just replicating the box art color.since it will be a gasser and not a direct clone I have a free hand as to how it will be built. 2009_0407Spock0010.jpg

Sure looks green to me!I mixed Tamiya chrome silver with a small amount of Tamiya clear green to get the correct shade.Looks right to me!

You could also paint it Bright red as it was for a movie.Technically, that would be accurate for that specific build.

BTW Love that green!! Greens are a favorite of mine, especially when gussied -up with pearls & fogs and fades and... B)

It's hard to tell from the photos above, but the original show car was actually a white pearl with a tinge of ice blue. It was repainted red for the movie because that color didn't photograph well.

Interesting background here, plus a couple of shots of the red version in poor condition before it became the Batmobile. Includes a shot of the Revell kit in a color that looks very much like what you're doing.

Call me crazy but I always liked the look of the Futura, I often wonder how it would have sold had it been produced. Waiting to see how this turns out.
