TheCat Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Here's my next project. A 1964 Chevy Impala SS built to look like the one my good neighbor had before he passed away. This build is to honor his memory. Here's what's done so far: Body Painted (Candy Apple Red) BMF and decals applied
Skydime Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I likes the 60-64s a lot. This is going to be good.
Greg Pugh Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 You should foil the rest of the A pillar. They were all chrome/stainless. Looks good though. My dad has a red '64 Impala SS that he's owned for 38 years now. I've been collecting parts for quite a while now to build him a replica. Problem is, I want to build two of them so I can have one for myself.
TheCat Posted July 26, 2011 Author Posted July 26, 2011 Greg - Thanks for the heads-up about the A pillar. I will correct that soon. By the mean time here's some more pictures. The Engine is completed. All the wiring is done (so far).
W-409 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 This is going to be great! Body looks very good, paintjob is amazing. Very shiny, and smoooth.... BMF looks good too. Engine detailing is also great. I'm huge fan of X-Frame Chevys, and this looks good. I must also built one '64 Impala, it would be original too.
Greg Pugh Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Nice to see a 327/Powerglide go into one of these. I love an '09 but it's nice to see a 327 or a 283 go into one of these as well. This is going to be a sharp car!
streetracer Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 wooow i love the colour, thats going to be one sharp looking car.
Nick W. Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I built one once! The revell kit is really nice! I built it to resemble the 1:1 I had a few years ago... I made the 327 look like my 283. I cant wait to see this finished!
TheCat Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 Thank you everyone for the great comments... Well, here's another update: Engine, rear axle and X-Frame married together.
Rob McKee Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Nice looking Impala. I have to crack open one of these one day. Nice clean work Felix. I am looking forward to see it in Under glass. Rob
LAone Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 great looking impala and a great way honor ones memory. keep up the great work.
TheCat Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 Thanks everyone... Another Update... X-Frame and tires attached to lower Body
LAV25 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Very nice! May I ask how you did the springs? Were they molded in, or did you wrap the pillars (I'm working on the Revell '63 SS now) with some sort of wire? Thanks!
TheCat Posted August 2, 2011 Author Posted August 2, 2011 Very nice! May I ask how you did the springs? Were they molded in, or did you wrap the pillars (I'm working on the Revell '63 SS now) with some sort of wire? Thanks! Hi Michael - Those springs are from the kit. I used black primer then hand brushed the red on them. It came out looking really good. It does pays to take your time on the little things.
TheCat Posted August 5, 2011 Author Posted August 5, 2011 Finished the build. You can see the finished product on this link: 1964 Chevy Impala SS Here's a quick picture of the finished car:
