Greg Pugh Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I remember building the ol' silver-molded '32 Vicky when I was a kid. Great little kit. I really like where this is headed too! Just my style.
High octane Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I love the "Vicky" body and I may have a chopped version in my stash from Jimmy Flintstone. Your project looks really good so far.
Ryan S. Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 This is going to be sweet. I like what you've got going. You should put a blower on that flatty!
LAone Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 thanks guys. like i said, it's all up in the air at the moment. dunno how i would pull of a cypress hill them, but it's got me thinking. im thinking of putting a blower on it. i have several of them in my parts box. ill have another update tonight. i started hacking into the plastic on the frame. it has a molded in floorpan.
LAone Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 (edited) ok, so i found an weiand blower and a pic online of a manifold that should work. i just need to modify the stock one a bit. now, the baggie that the blower came in said its injected. what does that mean, what goes on top now and does anyone have a pic of how it should look. i have searched but had no luck.. heres a pic of some progress. my batteries died and couldnt take a pic of the section of the roof i had to cut to align the doors. deathskull59 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 very cool vicky you got their so what is it gunna be a gasser or a hot rod. just kidding . and aint cypress hill that rap music group back in the 90s?
scale trucker Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 (edited) the 4 stacks on top of blower is the fuel injection..will be a bit much for a flat motor..put 2 carbs on top..will be real cool when done Edited July 30, 2011 by scale trucker
LAone Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 nathan: its gonna be a gassin-dirty-hot ratter!.. gordon: i bought this one already like this. soo im not sure if i want to take it apart. i have other blowers with out the fuel injection. thanks for the info.
LAone Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 alright, so i had some progress. i have not given up on this. ok so here it is in primer after i cut and sectioned the front to align the door seams. there are some gaps so i waited for the primer to cure the engine with the blower and the carbs ill be using. they came off a 53 chevy I6 engine. after some putty and sanding, it's back in primer. still got a couple of rough spots. the engine with the blower. i cut off the injection part of the blower and will be mounting the carbs. looks right to me. the chassis with the floors cut out to make way for the driveline. still needs some work. there was a lot of sink lines, similar to the ones on the far rear of the chassis. so some putty should take care of that. thanks for looking.
John Teresi Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Luis.......looking good!!!!.......luv it so far.
Ryan S. Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 This keeps getting better and better. Where are the tires from?
LAone Posted August 27, 2011 Author Posted August 27, 2011 thanks john and ryan. ryan, sorry for the late response, but i got the tires from pegasus. they didnt have a name on them that i can recall. but they are not rubber. they are like a plastic/resin tires. so, it's been a while. after some sanding and putty and some more sanding and putty a couple more times, i said the hell with it. it's not suppose to be perfect. im hot going for a show rod. so here it is in black and then alclad steel. came out a bit darker than i thought it would. but i like it and its not finished either. so, thats about it. thanks for looking.
Randy D Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Hi Luis, That body work and paint came out great! Randy
FASTBACK340 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 ######, that's got "the look". If you can get the final build as low as it is now you'll have a killer. NICE!
bandit1 Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 I KNOW AN IDEA FOR THIS BUILD! "RUST"! add just a bit to make it more "YOUR"thentic!
LAone Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 haha, thanks guys. it will be this low and there will be some rust. atleast some surface rust.
FASTBACK340 Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Cool build Luis. Just don't give in and make it too "weathered"... just nicely used should do it.
JasonFL Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 This is a great build, the body work and color came out really nice. How did you do the slanted roof look? Did you just cut the front post a little shorter? I was trying to figure out how to achieve that same look with my 32 5 window. Keep up the work, looking forward to seeing the end result.
Nitrozilla Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 I'm likin' it Luis. Awww, who am I kidding? I like anything with slicks and a whacked out motor.
