Guest Gramps-xrds Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Someone said photobucket wouldn't post here anymore. We'll see. Seems ta work fer me. lol
sjordan2 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 When I opened this thread, I got the words "Posted Image" but no picture where a picture should be. I waited because sometimes loading takes a minute. Nothing. I then clicked on the words and a pop-up picture of the truck appeared. I went to another thread, then came back and the picture is where it should be.
sjordan2 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I only see hot links, Dave. I'll click on them, then come back and see if they're in place on the board.
sjordan2 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Okay, I clicked on your first link, which took me to the Photobucket home page where they said "page not found." Same with the 2nd link, even after I signed in again.
sjordan2 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 (edited) Here's a shot from one of my Photobucket albums... I can see it. Can you? This was copied directly from the album. Edited July 29, 2011 by sjordan2
Harry P. Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I just posted this from Photobucket. Exactly the same way I've always done it. Copied the "IMG Code" from below the photo and pasted that info here. Same as ever.
sjordan2 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Let me give it a try. Nate, something must be wrong. The picture looks squashed.
Chuck Most Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I've had no trouble posting off Fotki. Not sure who's using what photo hosting site, but I have been seeing a few 'red x' images. Not sure if that's due to the forum change or if the user moved their photos from the URL they were originally posted.
george 53 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Nawww Skip, I think it's just the weight of all the posts above it pushin it down.
Foxer Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 (edited) i posted the pics the same way i've been doing that for years. copy and paste the IMG code or link to a Word document and then copy and paste them on the forums. the problem seems to be with the beginning "" part, although i have no idea why if it's always worked up until now. now, at the same time this is why i quit posting pics over on the SA forums and there as well seems to have been an issue when they upgraded the site on thier end too. not sure why it happens on the HAMB as well. Your links do not look correct and possibly passing them thru Word has altered them. Below is how your link looks to me? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v720/davezinn/July%202011%20drag%20madness/0013.jpg[/img] and this is how a link just copied from Photobucket appears when I post . I replaced the first and last [ and ] with (((( )))) so the link text shows. ( IMG]http://i219.photobuc...lesDSC_7631.jpg[/img ) Your link has an img at the start of the link where mine does not. At any rate, I'd suggest pasting the link directly in here to see if it is Word messing it up. Edited July 29, 2011 by Foxer

Yours has opening and closing parentheses, whereas they should be brackets. Edited July 29, 2011 by sjordan2
outlaw035 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 (edited) got to see if im still posting still working for me Edited July 29, 2011 by outlaw035
Harry P. Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Dave's links are wrong, they have too many image tags . There should be only one at the beginning and another at the end. His have two at the beginning. I have a feeling some of you guys are making this way harder than it is. All you have to do (Photobucket works this way, not sure about Fotki) is just copy the info in the "IMG Tag" line below the photo in Photobucket, and paste that info into your post here. Photobucket automatically includes the image tags so that your picture will display properly (as a photo, not as a link). It's basically fool proof. I don't understand why so many of you are having a problem.
sjordan2 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 This post uses Dave’s technique, which was composed in MS Word using the Photobucket IMG tag and copied. I’m on Mac.
Harry P. Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I don't see the point of going from photo hosting site... to MS Word... to here? What does going to MS Word first accomplish? It's a completely unnecessary step. Go to the photo hosting site and copy the image info, and paste it here. Why the intermediate (MS Word) step???

It's a completely unnecessary step. Go to the photo hosting site and copy the image info, and paste it here. Why the intermediate (MS Word) step??? I mostly agree with that. On the other hand, Word gives not only spelling prompts as this site does, but also questions grammar and usage, so it has certain minor advantages (for example, the spelling and grammar check correctly identified what's wrong with this sentence: Your being to literal.). The biggest disadvantage is that type styling in Word (boldface, italics, color, font size, etc.) doesn't translate when pasted here. But I don't understand why the MS Word process always worked for Dave before and doesn't now. Edited July 29, 2011 by sjordan2
Guest Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 (edited) Harry's right. There's no need to copy into MS Word first. Just copy directly from Photobucket and paste directly your post. I tried to post a photo the other day and had trouble for some reason. All that showed was a resized to -5 % bar,so I just deleted it. Edited July 29, 2011 by plowboy
Harry P. Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 seems to be working now skipping the MS Word step. not sure why it's a problem now using that process but i've done that since i've gotten online and began posting pics from Photobucket years ago. honestly, i didn't know i could skip that step, i thought it was neccessary. like i said though, that same issue came up over on the SA forums as well as for some reason the HAMB as well and was very frustrating to me. There's absolutely no reason to go through MS Word. I couldn't figure out why in the world you did that?
MikeMc Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 (edited) You have an incomplete link......The whole line should be the same....your first is wrong....should also show blue, Edited July 29, 2011 by MIKE THE MANIAC
Jon Cole Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 (edited) I just want to see if posting from Fotki is as easy as it was... I think that would be a "yes". When I open a photo in Fotki, there is a button above the photo that says "SHARE". Click it; several choices appear. I believe the top line says "Image URL for use on other sites". Click it. And that's it. It is copied. Paste as you normally do. Bake @ 350 for 10 minutes. Allow to cool. Edited July 29, 2011 by Jon Cole
Harry P. Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 okay, some help needed here on posting multiple pics without using MS Word. before when i used that process i could load multiple pics into the word document and then copy and paste the whole mess right into place. now just copying and pasting direct i get no more than two pics and they are reversed in the order i want them to be. i tried to add more but it wouldn't allow it? How I do it: Open Photobucket. Copy the IMG code from photo 1 I want to post. Come back here and copy that info into my new post. Go back to Photobucket, copy the IMG code from photo 2 I want to post. Come back here, paste into my new post. Repeat for photo 3, 4, 5, etc. (you have to have both this site and Photobucket open at the same time, but that's just a simple matter of opening up a new tab in your browser and opening both this forum and your photo hosting site.
