Dr. Cranky Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 Now if Darin Bastedo would only finish his tutorial on door hinges.................................................................... Yes, we are all waitin'.
Jantrix Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Honestly I don't have a lot of "rare reasures". I've pickep up a few well remembered kits from my childhood (Johan 63 Olds)(AMT Double T) but aside from that they are all pretty available kits. So I consider them all my treasures, because every kit that I have in one way or another inspires me and fires up my creativity. Any kit I aquire that doesn't do that is traded away to one of you fine folks for something that does get my juices flowing.
W-409 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Now I have one real treasure coming! Just bought it and I can't wait it to arrive. I don't tell more, maybe next week, when it's here, I let you know too.
Darin Bastedo Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 with all the models and collectibles I've aquired over the years there is only one Item I have that I would never part with for ant amount of money. This old Tonka Pick-up I played with when I went to our family camp in the adirondaks as a kid. We traveled there two weeks a year every summer until I left home at 19. A few years ago I returned after being away for nearly 20 years. I looked under the camp to see if it was still there, and sure enough it was. It was little worse for wear but I could tell it had been pushed aside in favor of newer shinier toys. I pulled it out, put it in the trnk for the long ride back to TN. I figured most of my relatives would't let their kids play with it with out a tetenus shot first anyhow.

Now if Darin Bastedo would only finish his tutorial on door hinges.................................................................... Ironicly Steve, Your Daytona Cobra is one of the few cars that would be accurate with wire door hinges. Here is a picture of a replica Daytona that was built exactly to the same spec as the real ones, right down to the door hinges.
Terry Sumner Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 (edited) Something a bit different... Also have a couple of original ads for these kits from an old magazine to go with it. Hosted on Fotki And one of my favorite kits from my youth..... Hosted on Fotki Edited August 17, 2011 by Terry Sumner

kitbash1 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Since I'm still trying to figure out my new digital camera, I'll post pictures later. I've got a couple of tresures in my stash, a 1\8th Entex M23 McLaren, and a Protar Alfa Romeo 179 F1 kit signed by Bruno Gacomali and Patrick Tambay. I've got a cool story on how I met them and got them to sign the kit box.
W-409 Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Now I have one real treasure coming! Just bought it and I can't wait it to arrive. I don't tell more, maybe next week, when it's here, I let you know too. Not yet, not yet, but soon... It's now on post's hands, this week, It'll be here, I guess.

Here are all the cobra pics I have uploaded, though I have a few hundred more I need to upload as time allows. http://public.fotki.com/ashevillemodeler/reference_photos/cobras/ BTW I finally got settled in here and was able to send out the Gas Cap you needed.

Dr. Cranky Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 Wow, those OLD TIMERS are great treasure!
W-409 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Here it is! This is something, I've been dreaming for long time, and now it is finally here, on my hands... I think, I must take a saw and file and bondo on my table, and start working on it. So '76 Monza 2+2. I'll build it as a Street Machine, but I'm going to let it be Monza, not going to convert it to '79 Skyhawk yet, because I must have one Monza too... Luckily those awfull custom- parts are just an option.
