dougp Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I got the idea for this about a year ago and have been working on it between other projects. I cut the roof off, fitted a filler panel from a Mustang Mach III and used sheet plastic to blend in the center filler to the center console. I rounded and angled the hood, front fenders and headlight buckets. While filling in the blower hat hole in the hood I gave it a slight power bulge. The rack and pinion was flipped to the front of the control arms to make room for transplanted fuel injected 340 oil pan. The exhaust was made from aluminum tubing and parts box mufflers. The Mach III exhaust port was used for the taillights. Paint is Duplicolor dark ming blue metallic with clear coat, wet sanded and polished. Enjoy and thanks for viewing.

trogdor Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Very creative idea and excellent build. I've gotten to where I've been tired of seeing WIllys, but this build is exciting to look at.
Sixties Sam Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Great build! It's nice to see a Willys that's not a racer. Very creative, and well done! Sam
dougp Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 Thanks for the comments everyone... Very creative idea and excellent build. I've gotten to where I've been tired of seeing WIllys, but this build is exciting to look at. I've been the same way, I love the Willys, but have gotten tired of seeing pretty much "the same old thing" all the time. Tried to do something a little different.
Sam Cates Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 It was really nice seeing that at the meeting Doug, superb work slicing the roof off and the color suits it very well, see you at the Goodguys show!
