Kaleb Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I know I know a corvette, Yes....it is. There is no 1:1 behind the story so I came up with my own... here goes A boy took his fathers vette out for a cruise one weekend without permission. As any young man would do, he accepts a challenge to race. The Insurance would not cover it so it has set in a shed for a few years and it was worked on a little bit. Not much of a story , but not much of a "weathered" car either. This is my first "weathered" vehicle.
Jantrix Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Very intersting. Well executed. I'd believe that has been setting in someones car post for a few years yep.
Sam Cates Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Cool, but why isn't it crumpled into a small ball of plastic? That's the way I envisioned it! But that is coming from a guy who despises any post 1973 Vettes...
Dr. Cranky Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 It's a cool subject for building damaged and weathered vehicles. I love the scratches and the dents.
Eshaver Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I think the car needs the tail light lenses restored back into the sockets to be a might more realistic. Hey, I actually worked on wrecked Corvettes on occasion. Ed Shaver

W-409 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Looks like racing didn't go well... I like how you did the scratches and dents. Weathering looks good. But maybe those taillight lenses should look good on their place, even if there are those wires hanging. But nice build, I couldn't do as realistic as that.
diymirage Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 i really like the "sideswiped" damage, you dont see that too often my only advise would be to tone down those rims a bit with a black wash, they look like they belong in a hiphop video rather then the shed oh, and put a belt in the front seat, because you know if my kid did that to one of the cars there would be a belt involved
crazyjim Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I've seen some Corvettes after an accident and it appears to me that you got it right.
VW Dave Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I've seen some Corvettes after an accident and it appears to me that you got it right. I was thinking the same thing....just enough damage to be believable, and you didn't go overboard(which is waaay too easy to let happen).
Kaleb Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 I was debating on trying for the airbags going off, and I still may I have an idea for them. As far as the rims go, I have toned them down....alot lol but ill see what I can do, I have to go buy some black wash. Im going to take better pics of the dents, And I tried to flatten the front two tires. My next step is to thin down the back tires on another car to look like they done too much of a burnout.
mr cheap Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 tries a little heat they flaten nicey.... the paint under lights shound be quite diff color.. shound be off a bit i always over do it cant help my self.. maybe a old lic plate

Ill have to build me one now. As far as the tires go, I flattened the front a little, not too much because then it became unrealistic.
vaughn Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Just enough to be realistic for a racing incident. Good job.
EH225M Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 If I was "dad", I wouldn't be happy with my son either!! If I was the 'son", I'd still be running!! It looks great!! Nice work
123yokomo Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Very nice the four round lights in the back are not painted though
