Bart!!... You are totally killling this build. Holy Smokes you have taken it to a different level with all of the moving linkages. I really like the work you have done here. Your craftmanship is out of this world. I need to step up my game now ;) You are setting the bar way up there B) Keep up the grea work bud and can't wait to see your next update.

Thanks Chris... Your work inspires me until I have to place an order with Scale Hardware.. LoL. Every time I look over you Army car build I work to see what I can do differently just to step up to your build talent.

I am getting close I made one coil-over and one strut this far. I ended up making some tooling for these but I am getting close. I want to add adjusters and go with my wife to the fabric store this weekend to find stainless pins the right size for the shafts. I also want to remake the spring coils. Now the shafts are steel and I am afraid after time they will rust. Let me know what you think.

Thanks Jim for the update, I was wondering how things were coming along. I agree, I think the spring wire looks a bit big making it look bunched together. If you don't find the pins, isn't piano wire stainless? I can send you some if needed.

Those look really nice Jim. Now all I have to do is get some candy red and throw my decals on it and will be set!

How did the Amazon order go, was it the right stuff you were looking for? Being 60" long I was wondering.

Jerry - Thanks for the complement, it is a great challenge getting things to move. I think I have grown fond of 1/16th scale vs. 1/24. I question how I could ever see some of those small details outside of what I am working with now.

Rick - I have to agree, Jim (MicroNitro) does an awesome job and turning these struts out.

Thanks Mark, I am not worthy myself of the complements I just try and show others what can be done. In hopes that it encourages others to challenge themselves with their own projects. If anyone finds parts of my build of use, I encourage them to steal the concept and use as they would like. :)

Man ROM, I am not sure I can live up to your Daytona.... I had to stop and enjoy your progress pics. :D

I haven't done much with this project because I have been beating myself up over this update for everyone.... plus having my upper back go out I was in pain for a couple weeks until the chiropractor was able to get my back and neck aligned again. Now I can only work for about 2 hrs in looking down at the parts before my neck and back begin to have shooting pain.

I am always being told that I need to quit doing this stuff, but I just can't get myself to stop. I find it to much of a way to relax from the daily stress of my job.

Well, I think it is time for a much needed update on this thread. I thought I would post of a small update for everyone before it goes off to primer and paint to finish off the housing and brackets.

I have been working effortlessly on trying to cut the proper 4 link housing brackets for this TDR Mark Williams 11" rear end. Finally after numerous failed attempts equaling countless hrs I was able to turn out something that I am satisfied with.

Just so everyone is aware...lol... I am not lucky either in getting things right the first try. The first set I made was out of aluminum and they were more for a 9" fabricated housing and didn't look right at all on the Mark Williams rear end.I had been dreading having to remake the brackets. So I started over with my 2nd attempt (upper left) in brass, I really liked them but after drilling the holes I immediately found out that the holes were to small for the 00-90 bolt. I couldn't ream the hole out because they were to close together. So off to the side they went and I started over.

Third attempt (upper right) I them cut out and started drilling the holes the proper size and they were not lined up, so I stopped.

Then after finally getting my Mark Williams Enterprises catalog, I found exact measurements for the brackets. With that being said I set out to try and replicate them just like the 1:1. Then determined that the .0100 brass I was using was to thin, so I went back to the drawing board.

Finally after the 6th attempt, I was able to turn out what you see below.

I fabbed up some brass brackets and made my wheelie bar mount, then topped it off with some of the "Dirt Modeler" smaller brackets to finish off my mounts for the wheelie bar.

Then I turned to making the bottom mount, so that I would have something to mount my Wishbone to.

Looks Great Bart, Mine isn't as exact as yours. i tried using those little tabs and couldn't do it, hands to shaky to get them on. Your definitely nailing the realism, Hope to conquer that on my next build.

The rear end is looking perfect Bart, hope you start feelin' better (so that we can see more of your work! LOL!) Know what you mean about the back, I've had lower back spasms since about '85, can be a real pain (no pun intended)

Bart... its. angreat to ser you back on this projet. I sure have missed updates. I am really sorry to hear about your back. I hope it heals fast for you.

You have done a killer job on this rear end. I know the feeling of not being happy with a part and redoing it multiple times. you nailed this spot on. what thickness of brass did you end up using for the mounting plates? keep up the great work and I cant wait until the next update.
