mackinac359 Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I finished this up Saturday and spent most of Sunday finding locations to take photos (getting sunburned in the process). I was inspired by the model 357-115 mixer used in Peterbilt promotional material back in late 2005. I came across the same truck in late 2008 looking a bit less shiny. My version uses an Italeri Peterbilt 377A/E with the cab reworked to a daycab and newer doors/mirrors. Resin parts from STS, KFS and P&P were used. The old Rex Mixer from an Ertl Paystar Mixer was used with some subtle modifications. I used Duplicolor rattle-can bright blue metallic with several coats of clear. BumperChrome paint was used on the wheels, bumper, battery box and fuel tanks. I used Bare Metal Foil UltraChrome for the grille crown. Thanks for looking! Tim
scale trucker Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 tim,as always super nice truck.looks just like the brochure..
chuckyr Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Of course that is going to the Italeri web site, right?
Turbo590 Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Tim, You nailed this one right on the "head" Very cool indeed...even with the old REX body Kurt
mackinac359 Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 Charles, I've been forgetting to submit photos to the Italeri site. Thanks for reminding me. Tim
bsoder Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Man that is IMPRESSIVE!..you nailed this rig to a T. same goes for your pics. sunburn or not ..it was worth it! B) ....next time grab some sunblock
BigBad Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Another well put together Pete. This one looks all business! Not all trucks are pretty to look at, especially some SBFA's but this one is right on the money. I'm learning all kinds of new expressions here, SBFA, SFFA, FEPTO... Cool stuff! Great job on this one Tim.
truckabilly Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Tim, I have been watching your work for years now and I never get fed up. After such a big number of built trucks, one would say you cannot surprise us anymore. Oh, but you still can, you sure do. This mixer looks very nice. You had it in the "wanna - build" section of your web sites and I was looking forward to seeing it done. And there you go. Are we going to see a concrete pump too some day? Jarda
catd11rpusher Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Tim outstanding job as usual. I wish I can learn the different trucks, like 378-377 I want to learn the difference between them. I have a lot of respect for your building.
69A-CAR Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Tim that Pete really turned out great! I love the color, the pictures are great! I am surprised the mixer blends in so well on a newer build, but it does. Mark
cowboysevens Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 another great build tim !! the color came out really sharp looking, and you have done a great job with replicating the real one in the picture. i always enjoy your builds
Kostas Parchas Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Tim, Nice workhorse you did once again. I like those pictures with real backdrops. I cannot understand the story of this truck? I mean that it was builded and used in a broshure back in 2005 and then it was just sitting at the Denton plant? No one wanted this truck, this is a great working mashine, why? Let me tell you something, tell them Peterbilt guys next time they want to make a new broshure they should use photos of your model trucks. It is cheaper than a working truck just sitting in the yard. Kostas.
