Sam Cates Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Built this kit OOB. I added plug wires and tailgate chains, the hinges and steering linkage are all done with steel wire because I went through three kits to make the hinges fit right without breaking the plastic pivot points and most still broke. Really cool old kit, lots of detail for its age and other than the hinge issues it was a pretty smooth build. Feel free to comment Sam

Danno Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Very nice. Just a tiny point, not meant to be critical, but just a little detail that would make your Model A station wagon even better: All the hardware ~ including all the carriage bolt heads ~ on the wood body should be black, not chrome, for a correct factory stock build. You have correctly painted the corner gussets at the lower rear corners black, but all the bolt heads should be black as well. Otherwise a very credible Model A! Good job!
Dominik Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Hi Sam, its a very old kit, isn't it? It looks very good to me - nice Built.
Dr. Cranky Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Another nice model, Sam. I've always wanted to build one of these and use rolled up canvas on the windows.
Sixties Sam Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Very nice! Great job on the hinging. Woodies are cool! Sam

Danno Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Thanks for the tip Danno, it will be very helpful in my next couple of woody builds! My pleasure. Glad it was received in the spirit intended. Looking forward to seeing your future woodie wagons.
charlie8575 Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Nice job, Sam. Dominik, this kit was first issued in the mid-1960s, and it's a real tough one to get to come out well. This is a great example of what the finished product can be. Charlie Larkin
MicroNitro Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Very cool I have always liked woodys. In the last picture with the hood up it sure looks like a real car. I just got this kit off Ebay, thanks for the heads up on the door hinges.
kenlwest Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 I really like this one. Can I assume this to be the 1/32 Pyro?? Nice Job! Ken

kenlwest Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 In looking this over again, I just realized that the hood opens both ways! I wanted to reach in there are pull out a spark plug!
Sam Cates Posted September 3, 2011 Author Posted September 3, 2011 Precisely, also used a couple of this issue.
