Here is one I wanted to build for a long time. I bought one of these when I was a kid and rode my bike to Valley West mall (a local mall that is now gone) and bought the Johan kit. I think it was back in 87 when I did it. I glued the motor together and brush painted it. I broke one of the rear wheels when I tore it off the sprue. Then I lost a front rim. It sat in the box all these years needing wheels.

I recently purchased a built up from another club member for $5 that had a good set of wheels. My original kit was molded in orange. I decided to dismantle the built up since it was not a glue bomb. Then I stripped the paint and had a white molded kit that was perfect for a rebuild. I just needed glass, wheels, and the front suspension peice that was missing. So I got some wheels from Modelhaus and traded for the rest of the missing parts. Now I had two complete kits to build from.

I used Tamiya spray white with red and blue from my airbrush. I used Testors Guard Red and Olds Engine Blue on it. The decals are slixx and I added plug wires and photoetch hood pins on this one. Not much for superdetailing. I did redo the rollbar on this one. I also broke the sidewindow so I cut them down and just used the quarter windows.

This is the one I got all rebuilt. What do you think?

P.S. I'm building the other kit into a 70 Sox & Martin Cuda.

I remember doing the same thing, riding my bike to valley west mall, and I do even recall going to the hobby store there, I don't remember then name though. I lived on 67th and butler so It wasn't that far of a ride . I think that was in the early 90's , I believe I was 5th grade.

I also remember riding the city bus from 7st and Indian school rd to valley west mall to go see a movie, but I never really liked valley west mall, I preferred christown .

On topic now, nice build there

Nice 'Cuda! Paint work looks very nice! Do you have any engine photos of it?

Raoul, you are exactly what we need more of here. A modeler who has a true passion for the subject at hand, jumps through hoops of fire to put together the needed goodies, then knocks it out of the park.

You have my approval to begin another MOPAR at your earliest convenience. Nice job, sir.

Hi Raoul,

i like the colordesign of "Sox&Martin" cars. They rock!

You made an absolute good job to your re-built. Looks very, very good!

Very nice build and detailed correctly. If I make make one suggestion to make it look even better - Keystone wheels had black accents on each side of the spokes. It would really set the model off nicely to add that. Use PollyS flat black. It has a water base so if you slop it where you don't want it it will wipe off without damaging the chrome. Keep up the good work.

Really nice build n dedication too the kit is a well made p/s, I liked the history, I too love this an Grumpy's toys, seen them run each other in 73 at I think Bristol spring nationals n been hooked ever since. Say not that it matters, but is it missing the coil pack or is it on the other fender well? I have extra if you need it? An it's off the original Jo-Hann kit, let me know, beautiful paint job too..
