Guest Gramps-xrds Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 (edited) Here ya go.... Flat Black Hudson Hornet by shuffdad, on Flickr This is a pic of a current build. I said they weren't popular back then and even now their few and far between. Edited September 26, 2011 by Gramps-xrds
Joe Handley Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Don't know why they weren't popular, that flat black one looks pretty nice, look even better if it has the right shiny paint job on it
Chuck Most Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 This a pic of a current build. I said they weren't popular back then and even now their few and far between. Bill- what do you want... ANOTHER Merc kit?
Joe Handley Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Could be worse, could be another '57 Chevy kit or '69 Camaro kit.
Craig Irwin Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 If that 57 Chevy was a Nomad or convertible, and that 69 Camaro was a SS396 coupe or a ZL-1, I'd buy a few.
Chuck Most Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Could be worse, could be another '57 Chevy kit or '69 Camaro kit. I can accept a few more 57 Chevys or '69 Camaros, even if I'll never buy the kit myself. I do think there are already more than enough Nova kits, though. The '57 and Camaros aren't quite there yet.
Greg L. Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Hi, I found a photo of a customized Hudson, done in the '50s. It was in an old magazine I bought at a car show. http://photos2.meetu...s_22637802.jpeg ( link to bigger pic) http://photos3.meetu...s_22266971.jpeg a stock one with a different roof http://photos4.meetu...s_22637772.jpeg
Craig Irwin Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 We still don't have a 67 or a good 65 Nova. One man's floor is another man's ceiling.
Chuck Most Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 We still don't have a 67 or a good 65 Nova. One man's floor is another man's ceiling. Okay- I guess I did neglect the earlier Nova/Chevy II. Kit those, then THAT'S IT!

I can honestly say this is the first early custom Hudson I've ever seen, but like the article said "Few and far between"
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Bill- what do you want... ANOTHER Merc kit? Good God no Chuck. We got enough 49 Mercs. Maybe a 55/56 would be nice. Maybe some early chevy or Dodge trucks. Maybe then I wouldn't have had ta make my own 36 Chevy truck. I'm still workin on the 32 Chevy sedan. Maybe one of these days I'll get it done.lol.
Darin Bastedo Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 This is a rarity. I can honestly say this is the first early custom Hudson I've ever seen, but like the article said "Few and far between" How about some of these?
Junkman Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 my plans are not to buy one LOL X2. Zero interest in the car.
Harry P. Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 X2. Zero interest in the car. You are in the small minority. A Hudson kit has been on most modeler's "most requested list" for ages.
Junkman Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 You are in the small minority. A Hudson kit has been on most modeler's "most requested list" for ages. I've never been most modellers.
Harry P. Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I've never been most modellers. I guess not!
Chuck Most Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I've never been most modellers. Neither have I, which is strange considering my last name. That still won't stop me from buying half a dozen of these.
sjordan2 Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I've never been most modellers. You're probably hot for a '52 Humber.
Darin Bastedo Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I actually will want to build at least 10 of these; 1. The custom I'm doing now, 2. the Motor city Hollywwod resin, 3. a phantom woody 4. a primered custom 5. one bone stock 6. a custom convertible 7. a stock convertible 8. a bonneville racer 9. a radical modern custom 10. a hirohita merc style custom
tuffone20 Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I'm with Jacen ... I'll be doing a replica of my grandfather's police car and a Doc Hudson for the pleasure of my grandson. Gee, there's some symmetry in that, isn't there? Then, when my ModelKing versions arrive, I'll be doing a Tim Flock, a Marshall Teague, and a vintage Pikes Peak Stock Class hillclimber ... I think I might do a "what if the Duke boys were around then" Oh yeah I can see it now!! Can't you see that Danno? And then your grandfather's police car can chase it!!

And then your grandfather's police car can chase it!! Oh, Danno- I do have a very specific warning for you. I know you are tired of General Lees... but I'm warning you, brace yourself to become just as tired of 'Doc Hudson' replicas in the coming months.
sjordan2 Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Hey- I wouldn't mind a '52 Humber! A couple of years ago, there was a member of the Scale Auto forum (Will, screen name wehf) who was a British college student. He loved to deal with building the most run-of-the-mill British and European cars you could find - the everyday, nondescript cars that were utterly charming and which you don't see every day as models. I'd love to see more of this stuff. But one I really want to see is an early 50s Sunbeam as seen in "To Catch a Thief."
