Joe Handley Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 We had about an inch the other day. By noon it was all gone. That's it so far. Been a pretty mild "winter" so far. Yup, and I'm not going to complain one bit
Harry P. Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Yup, and I'm not going to complain one bit You and me both!
Joe Handley Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Should be interesting driving through down town Geneva if we get any heavy snowfalls this winter, I've already that running in full time 4wd in the rain isn't a bad idea when driving through down town.
Guest Johnny Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Southern Illinois here, Carbondale area. I used to live over in Johnston City 1983-1992 now up in Bradley.(next to Kankakee) When I wasn't driving truck worked for a VW repair shop just outside JC.
High octane Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Are YOU ready Harry, the snow IS coming! LOL!
Harry P. Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Are YOU ready Harry, the snow IS coming! LOL! So I hear! Bring it on!
Dr. Cranky Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Are you kidding Harry, we're stuck with what's at the bottom of the barrel! If you want to see bottom of the barrel, come to Florida!
Harry P. Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 It's here, oh joy............. Yeah, coming down pretty heavy, too. Oh well, our snowless winter was sure nice while it lasted.
Joe Handley Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Yea, great day to be off from work.......guess it's about time to clear the driveway now...........
disabled modeler Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Its cold and windy here....been snowing since about 1 AM non-stop.
crazyjim Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Lift with your legs - not your back. Hey Dr. Cranky, it's 77 and sunny up here. Maybe we should take the scooters out for a ride? Supposed to get cold tonight and into the next couple fo days.
Joe Handley Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Lift with your legs - not your back. I was going to shovel the drive since it wasn't even an inch deep at the time.............got out to the garage and found that backing the parents van up and getting the snow blower out was going to be less work than just trying to get to the shovels. Hey Dr. Cranky, it's 77 and sunny up here. Maybe we should take the scooters out for a ride? Supposed to get cold tonight and into the next couple fo days. Some friends out in Virgil (near Maple Park) and I are planning on racing our R/C's this Sunday in one's back yard and one sent me a text message while I was out clearing the drives (did the neighbor's too while I was at it.)........ He texted; "Hope ur ready for a snow race."
crazyjim Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 If you're out that way, Joe, stop by Ethics Auto Body and say hi to LT. His shop is across 64 from the racetrack in Maple Park.
mmdm4 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I'm from Crest Hill, and work at my LHS! great job huh!
High octane Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 George, the pizza place you describe sounds like Geno's East as I used to go there back in the 60's.
High octane Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 As a former "Chicago native" I've been there several times and used to hang out on Rush street also. Those were the good old days as it was great living in the city back in the 50's & 60's.
High octane Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I was always a "north sider" but in my later years I did work with a lot of south siders in my trade. I had cousins that lived on north Honore St.
001slick001 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I'm from Belleville anyone else from the metro east?
crazyjim Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I loved Riverview!! The whole family used to go once a year. The Bobs is the only roller coaster I've ever been on that I couldn't go hands up. We called it "the devil". Great ride.
High octane Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Crazyjim, I think George ment Riverview Park on the southside that was part of the Chicago Park district and not Riverview the amusement park which was on the northside by Belmont & Western Aves.
crazyjim Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Oh. Well I don't care about the southside park. I meant the Belmont & Western place. Who was the big fat guy that did the advertisement?
High octane Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Two Ton Baker did the "laugh your trobles away at Riverview" ads.
Harry P. Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I remember Riverview, my parents took me there when I was just a little kid. My high school is right next to where Riverview was... if you were in a room on the south side of the school you could see right into Riverview... it was literally right next door. BTW... I just got in from shoveling about half a foot of snow. All of you guys east of me... coming your way!
Joe Handley Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 And that was a joy driving through too.................
