Jon Cole Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 This guy found out the hard way! http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2011/09/video-chevy-camaro-dragster-rear-axle.html
gasser59 Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Scary stuff but could have been much worse.
Jon Cole Posted September 27, 2011 Author Posted September 27, 2011 Really? I would say that the rear right definitely went into the wall, impacting with enough force to cause some flex to the rear axle assembly. Enough so that if it had no effect, it would be one heck of a coincidence
Nitro Neil Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 I'm willing to bet that the reason he went into the wall in the first place was because something was loose or in the process of failing on the first run and that it let go completely on the next run. The wall smack was probably a symptom, not a cause. He should have checked out why he went hard right like that, he might have found the problem. He probably blamed it on the track.

Sixx Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Good thing he's ok. Gotta hand it to him too, he's got prostetic legs. Good for him out there racing!!! He's been fixed & now his car needs fixin!!
Fuel Coupe Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I used to build drag racing chassis and the guy who welded the mounts to the rear of that early Camaro should have his junk kicked in. Tapping the wall had nothing to do with those welds failing, they failed before they ever cooled down.
