Revell, kit this.
Nitro Neil replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yaba Daba Doo! That's a big YES from me! There is a in 1/43rd kit made by Soldan Models, but he only releases a few at a time and they are hard to get. Land Speed Racing has always been underrepresented in 1/25th plastic. And Garlits keeps EVERYTHING. They could do an episode of "Hoarders" on the guy. -

Do all clear coats yellow?
Nitro Neil replied to br67's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The simple answer is all clears, enamels and lacquers, turn yellow eventually. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to stop it. The question really is which ones stay clear longer and how yellow they get. It's the UV rays in sunlight that turn the clear coat yellow, but they will turn yellow even if you don't keep the item in the sun. I have had good luck with Rustoleum's Crystal Clear enamel (not the gloss clear, but the Crystal Clear). I would think that two-part finishes would also be very stable, but I have never used them so I don't know for sure. -
'68 Plymouth Fury. Mass. State Police UPDATE 8/25/16
Nitro Neil replied to Rdkingjay's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Nightmares, it'll just give me nightmares. After living in New Hampshire for 20 years and "meeting" a few of our pleasant and polite State Troopers I can safely say that I don't miss the Mass. Troopers at all. Good luck with the model. -
The best website to get license plate artwork is http://www.licenseplates.tv/ They have an incredible variety of locations and years. (with the exception of California. California sells "vintage" plates so they don't want any aftermarket company selling them because California would lose that revenue). You can type in what you want and the site will create a small PNG image the you can copy and resize and then print it on photo paper. I make a variety of samples on one 4x6 photo paper and print it out and then cut out the one I decide to use. I spend a bunch of time during each build coming up with license plate ideas and then save the samples to my computer so I have them all at the end.

Model Cars Magazine Renewals
Nitro Neil replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have faith in you Gregg. I was editor of the New England Dragway Newsletter for a few years, so I know the pitfalls, landmines and costs. You have my support and my sympathy. Publishing is a very hard way to make a buck. -
Model Cars Magazine Renewals
Nitro Neil replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Gregg, I got your letter the other day. I had already renewed through Golden Bell. When I renewed I put a note (same note in two places actually) saying that it was for a renewal for my current account number. At that point Golden Bell started sending me two copies of the magazine, so it was pretty apparent that they had not seen or read by note about it being a renewal. Problem is your renewal notice came while I was in the hospital have hip surgery. I won't be able to get the computer that has the info about the payment until I can walk up the stairs to my office, which won't be until next week at the earliest. Just so you know, Golden Bell doubled up the last three issues. I'm actually glad you got rid of GBP. This is not the first time they screwed up my subscription. Thanks. -

Thanks Glen, doing well here. One last four-day in-hospital chemo treatment next week and then I'm done. Went back to work a few weeks ago. -

Revell SoCal Speed Shop double kit
Nitro Neil replied to squirrel886's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It's a "fantasy box" currently for sale on eBay Canada. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CUSTOM-MODEL-BOX-for-1-25-REVELL-So-Cal-32-Roadster-Belly-Tanker-Salt-Flats-Dry-/252110354464?hash=item3ab2f2b820 -
I built this kit when they first came out and I still have the finished model. I'm still amazed at how well a kit in 1/32 went together and how good the finished model looks. It was my first experience with photo-etched parts. I always wished those kits had been more popular so that Tomy would have come out with some other kits.
