Dr. Cranky Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Nice looking engine. I think it's all coming together nicely.
meaneyme Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Cruz man, the engine alone is a piece of art so far, my suggestion? Build another one and display this one on the outside next to the model. The strombergs look phenomenal, how tedious are they to put together? What about the fuel pump from Replicas?

The stromberg kit is a little tedious to work with just as anything related with photo-etch is, you just have to plan ahead and make sure to read the instructions on the package, they are very clear and precise. Same thing goes with the fuel pump kit from Replicas, Norm takes pride not only with the resin stuff he does but also with the instructions he gives you on his products, you will never go wrong with him.
meaneyme Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 On the fuel bowl, did you paint it? That thing looks like it has some real gas in it. I am also noticing the small holes you drilled on the fuel pump, are these pre-drilled in the package?

I am also noticing the small holes you drilled on the fuel pump, are these pre-drilled in the package? For the bowl I mixed a little bit of Future floor wax and food coloring (yellow), dipped the bowl inside and then just hung it to dry. I will also be doing the same thing for the fuel lines which are transparent. The fuel pump does have very small pre-drilled holes on it, just make sure to start with the smallest drill bit you have to make them deeper and take your sweet time doing it.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 It's looking real good, buddy. Can wait to see the whole thing come together.
Foxer Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 http://www.researchsupply.net/ 23 gage .. thanks, Marcos. Will have to have my RN wife do some "shopping" for me.
edward smith Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Engine looks awesome Cruz, love how you did those wire looms. The fuel pump with the little bowl looks amazing, can't wait to see it in the engine bay.
cotto Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Hey Cruz, I have this kit in my stash but I have a question for you, did your body come with a hole to install the spotlights on the sides of the model? Mine did, did you cover yours? Also, did you rescribe your panel lines? I am liking the way they look, how did you do it?
cruz Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 Hosted on Fotki Nothing abnormal with your kit Jay, I just decided to cover the holes on mine, I am not using the spotlights that come in the kit. Lines were lightly scribed starting with my scriber and finished off with the back of a #11 X-acto blade.

Thanks Kevin, the paint is Testor's enamel Flat Red from the small bottles, pictures were taken inside the house so that's why it might look a different shade. The top is Tamiya Pearl White. Clear is Testor's one shot lacquer.
Terror Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 It looks great now, but I can imagine after the polish job.Gonna look real deep.Nice.
