martinfan5 Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 (edited) I decided to post some pics of the Welly Tahoe I have, Its been in the back ground pics of my trans am build and getting a lot of attention. I am not really a diecast person, I have a total of four diecast, this is a really nice diecast piece , it looks to spot on with the 1:1 Tahoe. On the size, that is questionable, it stats on the box 1/24, but I dont think it is that scale, next to one of AMT tahoe kits, its a little smaller. Jeff at PCM has it listed closer to 1/27 scale . All the police equipment you see on it does not come with it, it is stuff that I put on it, the only things that come with the one I got is the push bar and three lightbars, and the lightbars are not even close to being in scale with the tahoe, they were more like 1/32 to 1/43 scale. Chuck Most Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Cool. If I were better at working with diecast I'd turn one into a second-gen Avalance.
mikemodeler Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I am not a die cast person either but that is a nice looking truck. Where does one find these, Wal Mart? Online?
martinfan5 Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 I got it from policecarmodels.com, he has a store on ebay and its a little cheaper on his ebay store
Ben Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Oh bummer!!!!! I was hoping it was right on in scale so it could be stripped and cast into resin. A modern pickup and Avalanche could have been made from the resin castings.

Especially when the kit makers aren't coming out with any new pickup/SUV/light commercial vehicles I've stripped mine down, the size is just a bit smaller than Revell's '99 Silverado. This Tahoe would work well for a GMC master, as many parts are similar, like the dash, front bumper top pad/shape. The new Silverado differs quite a bit... Edited October 4, 2011 by jeffs396

I'll be getting one for sure! They're pretty cheap!

Ben Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I almost forgot that you were going to post these pics. Thanks for posting them! It looks to be very close if not right on with the AMT Tahoe. Sure would be awesome if were already a resin kit!
Rob Hall Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Interesting... does Welly do a stock version of the Tahoe?
jeffs396 Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Interesting... does Welly do a stock version of the Tahoe? Yep, an LTZ with the nice 20" wheels
