have two older models not sure if i should build them

I have two models made by tamiya but i really dont want to build them cause they are older ones from when they were the model rectifier corparation. I was told they are worth some money but not really sure. They are still sealed in the plastic and i have had them for around ten years now.

The first one is a audi quattro 1/24 with driver figure kit number 2431a.

The second is a M4A3E2 "jumbo" us assault tank. Includes accessory parts and two figures. It is dated 1987. Kit number is 3639

If anyone can tell me anything about these i would really appreaciate it

Nick, I can tell you about the Audi...I just picked one up at a show a few weeks ago, $10 sealed!

They don't go for much on eBay either. Nice looking kit though, just build it!

MRC is a US distributor, not a part of Tamiya past or present that I am aware of.

The M4 Jumbo is still listed in their catalog, so not particularly uncommon. With a quick look on ebay there is a guy selling 6 of them for $34 each which is a typical retail price for an older Tamiya tank kit.

I've also not found the military modeling community being anywhere near as interested in the collectability of older kit boxings as model car builders.

In my eyes there is one purpose for kits and that is to build them. it's totally up to you with what you want to do with them.

I agree with Luis, I know guys in my club that have built kits that I have seen on Evil Bay going in excess of 2 and 3 hundred dollars... My thoughts are rather simple, if it's in a box or a bag I will build it eventually no matter cost or collect ability. I am not a collector, I am a builder.

Sadly collectors have taken some really great kits and set them on a shelf just to sit in a box, I want to have the fun of building it and if I mess one up, oh well, just fix it and go on to the next one...

As you have been told, the kits are not particularly valuable, so you're not going to be able to sell them and retire from the proceeds...

Build them... unless you do, they're just parts in a box and are completely meaningless.

I agree thats what models were made for, not to sit in its box gathering dust WHAT FUN IS THAT?
