Tony T Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Yup, Thanksgiving weekend...in Canada. Hope everyone has a nice long weekend...we've got pleasantly above normal temperatures for the weekend with sunshine...nice break from our usual fall fare! So, Happy Thanksgiving!!
Harry P. Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Sheesh, you Canadians and your wacky metric calendar...
peter31a Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Our wacky metric calendar? You silly people have your Thanksgiving a mere month before Christmas. You just get one over with and you turn around and there's the next stressful family holiday. We like to spread ours out a little.

Late November in Canada is like late December in the States. It makes sense to have a harvest holiday before the ground freezes. David G.
Tony T Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 It comes down to the growing season being shorter up here (angle of the Earth vs the Sun etc)...we've also had a couple of frosts and the crops are already in from the fields...unusually warm and sunny weather this weekend for October though, which is nice. The colours of the leaves are spectacular in the sunshine!
Harry P. Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 It comes down to the growing season being shorter up here (angle of the Earth vs the Sun etc)... I actually knew that... I was just yankin' your chain... Speaking of weather... been in the 80s and not a cloud in the sky for about a week straight. Not half bad for October around here. Global warming? Bring it on! Every day I can go without running the furnace is a day I save some $$$...
Tony T Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 No worries, Harry...I figured as much about the chain... We actually had to put the A/C on in the house for a short while (for sake of my wife's health) due to the temperature and humidity. We have had to put the furnace on 3 or 4 nights so far...not bad.
MrObsessive Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 I actually knew that... I was just yankin' your chain... Every day I can go without running the furnace is a day I save some $$$... Until I can get settlement from FEMA about my flooded furnace, I'll take tons of "global warming" throughout the entire winter! It's been nice not to have it get super cold as October can be!
