Agent G Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Are those the decals you mentioned Saturday? All of those look really, really good. I got to "sample" Metro's new 2011 Chargers Monday. Darn it I retired way too soon. G
martinfan5 Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 Agent, these decals are from bill bozo decals, the decals I was talking about with danno are for the decals for the 60's/ 70's era PHX PD markings. How was your sample of the new style charger?, did you get any pics of it?
Ben Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Everything looks great!!!! I really like the Tahoe!!!!!!!!!! I'm wanting to do one with the "ghost" decals to make a "Road Rage" tahoe like we use here in San Antonio.
Agent G Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 No pics, the EVOC staff asked we refrain from photographing the cars until the order is official. We got to, ahem, peruse them at the new HQ. Then we all drove to the speedway.......................................fast. Interesting side note here, Dodge delivered a white 2011 with a Hemi, and a black 2011 with a V6. The black car had white vinyl skins on the hood, roof, trunk and both doors. Blew my mind, it looked really good. We were told it is still cheaper to paint black fenders on a white car, but the skins can be easily removed yielding an all black car at auction time. Time will tell if the vinyl will hold up to our climate, but the Sheriff wants b/w cars. Side side note, the V6 is a pig with all the police goodies loaded. It has a lot of HP in the upper rev range but takes too long to get there. Urban police cars essentially drag race from intersection to intersection. By the time the V6 is pulling good, you are back on the brakes. G
martinfan5 Posted October 13, 2011 Author Posted October 13, 2011 That is cool that they used a vinyl wrap on the car, it shows that departments are thinking resale value before the cars even hit the streets. I am not surprised that the V6 got bogged downed, so it has good power but not enough low end torque, which like you said in the city is not good. There is only a few departments here in the Phoenix area using chargers. So was it LVPD testing the chargers?, And on a side not as well, there is a 2011 charger diecast coming out, it got pushed back so the sunroof could be filled before production started.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Nice subject, wonderful execution! Congrats.
Harry P. Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Those models look like the real thing! Only the background gives it away...
Harry P. Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Is that a hint for REAL OR MODEL quiz? Aside from the background, I think one or two of those photos would have fooled some people.
gasser59 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Nice builds Jonathan. Extremely realistic. It was great meeting you last Saturday and be able to put a face with the name. So what's the story with this Bill Bozo decals place? Is he local and able to print decals? I've been looking for a local with an Alps, just haven't found anyone yet.
Rob Hall Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Sharp..nice and familiar looking. Too bad the current style Impala isn't available in 1:24/5th...I see a lot of those in Phoenix police livery. I've seen a couple of Magnums in Scottsdale Police livery.
martinfan5 Posted October 13, 2011 Author Posted October 13, 2011 (edited) Thanks for all the compliment guys, I should of did a different back ground for the pics, but I guess using one of them now wouldnt work for the quiz. But any tips on doing a background ? Bill Bozo decals are out of canada, far as I know they are not alps printed, you need a white base to use them, but they are some the best decals out there being made. If you order a 1/24th/25 scale sheet, you get enough decals to do six cars, and $15 a sheet its a really good deal. I dont think there is a 1/24th scale new style impala, Edited October 13, 2011 by martinfan5
Danno Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 They look good, Jonathan. Just need to get antennae'd up! Bring 'em out to GoodGuys next month, and don't forget to join Moonlight Modelers by December ~ that's when we have our annual "Lights & Sirens Challenge" - contest for emergency vehicles only.
Agent G Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Lights and Sirens? OMG, I think I just wet myself................................it's been a long time since I did that. Jonathan yes LVMPD is evaluating the cars, all I get are rollerskates, but my input was requested. G
miatamadman Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Nice job on the cruisers. For antennas, may I suggest you use plastruct .01 rod slid into a piece of wire insulation. I use those on all my cruisers and they are quite flexible and wont bend like wire. Zoli
martinfan5 Posted October 13, 2011 Author Posted October 13, 2011 I didn't forgot about the antenna's , just over looked that part Danno, I know I told you I was going to join, and I am , well I know what model I can do for the December build, the ford interceptor I got from you. Agent, are you little excited about the charger ? , what type of rollerskate do you get to drive?, didn't you say a Chevy? Zoli, I read the tip thread you made on the other forum about the antenna's I have been thinking about trying it out, I used some your led lights on the Tahoe and on the ford interceptor, very nice . I hope you can use the light bars I sent you.
