bandit1 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Ohh, ohh, ohh... That one's easy on the eyes... I'll bet it has a really beautiful, mellow tone... Christian, what's the make and model? On the topic of, 'Who plays...', I have a nice Fender acoustic, have taken lessons, was getting to know my way around pretty well... Just lost the urge to play after Mom died... I know I'll pick it up again someday. I like the sound of a well picked guitar too much to let it go completely MAYBE ... you , my stepfather, and my brother need to get together is the way it sounds!
SuperStockAndy Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 Nice! Now you can be Mark Knopfler... Oh man I love Money for Nothing.....
Jeff Johnston Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 These are mine...I don't play the Ibanez much and I'd like to see it and get another Mexi-Strat. My favorite will always by my Strat but I find myself playing my Telecaster a lot. On the side you can see my drums. I've played Drums since I was 9....guitar since 15. I studied drums but picked up guitar on my own.
SuperStockAndy Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Which one is the Ibanez? It looks like two Les Pauls, a Strat, and maybe a Starcaster to me.
Jeff Johnston Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 The Ibanez is the orange hollow body. From Left to right, starting on the floor... Maroon Fender Telecaster. Orange Ibanez Hollow Body, Purple Fender Stratocaster, Silverburst Epiphone Les Paul Custom. Also night moves is mostly G and E. There is a walk down from G to E but if you can play G and E you can play the versus. There is a C in the chorus but this is a really good song to learn. You can google the chords and probably even the lyrics with the chords.
SuperStockAndy Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Really? The Ibanez looked kind of like a Gibson ES-335 to me. Also, what amp is that?
Junkman Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Ohh, ohh, ohh... That one's easy on the eyes... I'll bet it has a really beautiful, mellow tone... Christian, what's the make and model? It's a Martin Smith, no particular model, it's the only dobro they make, in tobacco sunburst (also available in black). I got it on sale for a mere 100 quid, down from 185 or so. The sound is awesome, really, really swampy, exactly what I was after.

PLEASE! get us a recording playing something such as chocktaw hayride that is done by one of the greatest dobro players in the world!
Junkman Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 PLEASE! get us a recording playing something such as chocktaw hayride that is done by one of the greatest dobro players in the world! The problem is two-fold. I have no recording equipment and no great dobro player.

Jeff Johnston Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Really? The Ibanez looked kind of like a Gibson ES-335 to me. Also, what amp is that? Andy that little AMP is called a Roland Micro Cube. It has every sound you would ever need. You can dial in Metal, and Blues, and a lot in between. It cost 130 bucks and I have to say it is worth every penny and more.
SuperStockAndy Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Thanks. I might have to get one of those if I (ever) get better.
Jeff Johnston Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 you only get better by playing. A little amp like this will make you want to play more because it has to many options and sounds.
SuperStockAndy Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 My problems are that I can't play fast enough, or my fat fingers get in the way and mute the strings. :\
SuperStockAndy Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 Alright, I tuned my guitar the RIGHT WAY yesterday, no wonder my songs didn't sound right! I was only tuning by ear, and boy was I off. I'm a happy camper now
FASTBACK340 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I agree with Bronxrumble.... Ibanez instruments rule. I played Fenders & Yamaha basses and then I tried the Ibanez BTB 5 string. Wow.... I liked it so much I retired my Fender and bought a 4 string BTB to replace it when I play live. I use the Fender for recording now. Another option is that other twilight zone... Craigslist. Go buy something someone else bought new and is taking the re-sale hit on.
brad4321 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I've tried and tried. I learned I have zero music talent. I can't tune it without a tuner. I'm right handed but I play left handed because in college there was a left handed sitting around the living room. I can play most stuff but only if I have access to the tabs. And I hung out with some musicians in younger days. Seeing the talent they had really deflated my ego. I stick with sports. Sports I can do.

I recommend this site: http://guitar.about.com/library/weekly/aa071200a.htm I've learnt quite a bit from there.
Jeff Johnston Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Yes agree Ibanez makes a great product. But i still stand by my statement that for the same money, you really cannot beat the Fender Squire bullet.
Harold Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 I have an Epiphone Les Paul. Unfortunately, both my hundred watt Fender and Marshall practice amp (along with a Crybaby and Ibanez Tube Screamer) got toasted in a house fire.

My son also has one too.
SuperStockAndy Posted November 25, 2011 Author Posted November 25, 2011 The Epi Les Paul will probably be the most expensive guitar I ever have if I get it. Guitars are stupidly expensive....
Jeff Johnston Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Andy there are many versions of the Epi Les Paul right from beginner ($150 ish) onto almost a grand. The thing is that an Epiphone Les Paul or SG (both affordable beginner versions) will ave a different neck feel than the Fender/Ibanez/Peavy/etc guitars. You really need to play then to see which one you like. Guitar center, if you have one close by, is a great play to do that to see which one you like. This is all the Epi guitars online at GE for under 200. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone,Solid-Body-Electric-Electric-Guitar,100-200,New-Gear.gc?categorysearch=true .
lordairgtar Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I do not know how to play guitar, but I have a couple of low end guitars I have collected. When I used to do karaoke in the 80s and 90s, I went by my user name (that's where that came from) and did insane air guitar moves. People started bringing me cheapo guitars and other instruments. I have a Hy-Lo Fender copy that actually sounds nice and an Aria Pro XX in black (Vee shaped body). I also had a fiddle. I had one other guitar that got a cracked neck when some drunk at the bar grabbed it and tried to do the "smash the guitar at the end of the song" routine. I almost went to jail that night.
FASTBACK340 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I had one other guitar that got a cracked neck when some drunk at the bar grabbed it and tried to do the "smash the guitar at the end of the song" routine. I almost went to jail that night. Speaking of drunks and guitars.... or should I say gui-TARD. I went into Brooklyn with a friend to see his friend's band play. All through the set I see a string-less guitar leaning against the side of the guitarist's amp. Last song goes into a drawn-out ending where the guitarist puts his Jackson on a stand and grabs this poor guitar. Grabs it by the neck and starts swinging it. Fourth smash into the stage sends a wood splinter through the inside of his left hand requiring a trip to the hospital and stitches. We do a show with them next Saturday night. I can't wait....
