Hey all,

My modeling ADD kicked in and while I'm waiting for the primer to dry on my Duesys...I broke out my R&R 1965 Bonny wagon...

However...I ran into a snag that I could use some advice with......

Check out the hood fit...quite a twist

Again....

I tried to get decent pictures, but I haven't figured out how to get clear up close shots yet.

I ran it under hot water, and that didn't help...

I could really use some help on this one..

Cheers, Ian

I'm thinking hotter water. I've had acceptable results by heating the water to just under boiling, then dipping it momentarily, shaping and setting with cold water. Otherwise maybe just try and find a plastic AMT Bonneville hood.

I have never had good luck un-warping parts in plastic much less resin. Even we I get them straight, the twist comes back eventually. So I agree with Mike, find an AMT hood.

Try the warm water method first. You have the part and it'll cost you nothing additional to experiment.

If it doesn't work, the AMT hood is the next-best solution.

That will be a beauty indeed!!!! What colors do you have in mind? Black on black or white with a burgundy interior? or that pretty tan colour that they had in that year? It'll be an interesting build for sure. is that resin kit still available and does it come with an interior package or do you have to scratch build it? Keep us posted on yourt progress please!!! :)

Gary,

I'm not sure what kind of paint scheme I'm going to do yet.

The Bonny kit is an R&R resin kit. It has a full interior, but it will take a little work to get it to fit properly. I was going to put an engine in it, but the chassis casting is kind of rough, so I might skip that and just glue the hood closed, as long as I can get the warp out of it.

All in all, its a decent kit. Since '60s Pontiac kits are hard to come by, I would probably buy another one,

Cheers, Ian

Roger,

OK, I'll give it a shot, thanks

Update....

Got the warp out of the hood. :D Dipped it in almost boiling hot water and worked the warp out. With some tweaking, a little sanding, it fits pretty good now...

Thanks for the tips, folks.. :)

more pics when I get a camera

Cheers, Ian
