Matt "W" Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Got to see the Lonestar today (the model). One of the fellows at the club had built it and brought it in. I asked if he had ever seen one on the road. He said never. I look for this truck everytime I go out on the road, and have never seen one. Everyone that I talk to that knows about the truck has never seen one. What's up with that? I'm sure they exist. Are they rare birds? Have you seen one? Ken Ken, I've seen one up close. It was a fire dept pumper/tanker and I liked even more after seeing it in person. It was a sharp looking rig.
freakshow12 Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 there are TONS up here in saskatchewan. many rich farmers hauling grain. lots of gravel hauler day cabs too. my favorite is the harley davidson edition. one at local dealer I will try and get some pics
matador88 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 heh, funny question for me as i have been cruising us roads on my trips only for .. like two weeks (NC mainly) and i`ve seen at least (what i remember for sure) 2 of them
Dave Van Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 One rolled up behind me on the interstate a few weeks ago....looked like a giant 34 Ford street rod! Cool truck....but not as many as some others out there.
BigBad Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 One rolled up behind me on the interstate a few weeks ago....looked like a giant 34 Ford street rod! Cool truck....but not as many as some others out there. EXACTLY, THAT IS what it looks like! Haha! They're not all over the place near Montreal Qc but I see them once in a while.
Matt "W" Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Here are a couple shots of an '08/'09 Lonestar/Rosenbauer Tanker that I took at the 2009 Fire Dept Instructor's Conference.
BigBad Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Yes, I've seen one in the road in front of my house.. ;-) Jaume www.universdecamions.co.cc Nice build! good match with the tanker, had me fooled for a second or two!
baloney Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 yes i've seen some. sleepers and daycabs too, hauling gravel,53 foot drybox... they are quite scarce.. maybe the cost is high? truckers or fleets prefers ;pete's kw's,freights and others i guess..
mackinac359 Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 That is super sharp ! Tim Nice build! good match with the tanker, had me fooled for a second or two!
pete3522 Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 i have seen a few but all had sleepers i have yet to see a day cab
W-409 Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I saw many of them last winter when I was in Florida. Few on the roads and quite many of them at Daytona Speedway. I have some pictures too (I think). Maybe I should post them here. It is very nice Truck...
Alfnut Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 When they first came out I didnt see much at all, now I see them more and more on road. a few small fuel fleets in my area have a few daycabs. Saw one wearing Western Distributing colors and all I could say was WOOOOOOW!!!!! I admit at first I thought it looked like an old steam loco chromed out on a truck frame, but eventually they grew on me. Peterbilt all the way but a Lonestar with the right color is gorgeous
Custom Hearse Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Yeah I see them all the time up here in ND. But I94 is a major route to Eastern and Western Seaboard. Iagree with it looking ugly. They hit the Art Deco Grille Look but is out of place on a new rig and does not resemble the 38 IH they were trying to emulate. I've seen a few in my travels driving truck. Never really looked at them though. T.J., I always thought they looked like an old steam powered locomotive...
highway Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I've seen quite a few of them around my area, there is even a nice shiny new red day cab sitting at O.S. Hill International in Wheeling, WV that makes my drool every time I drive past it! There is also a company near the house that is ironically called Brownlee Trucking (no, I don't know if I'm a relation) and they run quite a few Lonestars, and most of the fleet is International. Smith Transport out of Rolling Springs, PA is also running some Lonestars in their fleet, even though with Smith's reputation of running some of the prettiest company rigs on the road, I'm surprised that their Lonestars are grass burners, and just do not look right without stacks. I'll see if I can get some pics here and there.
charlie8575 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I've seen a few of them. I think they're a really neat-looking truck. If I ever hit the lottery, I would seriously consider buying one for a conversion to a large camper. Charlie Larkin
Mike B Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I've seen 2 or 3; they definitely get your attention!
