Olskoolrodder Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 (edited) Chassis is done. It sits a bit higher than I'd want...but is right about right for replicating the 1:1,so that's convenient,LOL! A bit of work left on the engine compartment (still need to prime and spray the compartment itself,I forgot it's a snap in piece),interior will be at least started tonight, and I'll touch-up the spots from that Sharpie snafu, and give some of the triim a second coat (switched to a tiny brush after that happened. Not sure at this point if I'll try and cut the side windows out or not,not sure the back of my #11 or saw is that steady... Should be done tomorrow or Tuesday. Here's the latest mock-up shots... More to come Edited November 14, 2011 by Olskoolrodder
charlie8575 Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Not bad at all, Steve. It really does speak to the Daytona/Laser being among the more successful efforts of design in the 1980s style-wise. Charlie Larkin
Olskoolrodder Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 Thanks,Charlie, and yeah it does . I liked every one of the one's I owned. They were long on butt kicking (for what they were),but short on sophistication,LOL! It's been a rough last several days for me with the old spinal injuries (pain, stiffness, etc) or this one would have been finished already. I did work on it some last night (detail painting and interior),and I will be momentarily,HOPEfully,I can finish it up tonight and post pics i the finshed section (thus freein me up to begin another project I'm anxious to get on ).
whale392 Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I loved the Daytona we had, and it was a great car for what it was. Believe it or not, I would like to acquire another one and build a street killer out of it. 2.2L/2.5L stroker, IROC head, one of my Holset turbos, that spare EVO9 intercooler I have in the garage, 5spd, and Caravan brakes.........fun little pocket-rocket! Enough on my 1:1 desires; your Daytona looks great and I like the color scheme. Something I can see myself driving.
Olskoolrodder Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 Thanks,Bradley ol friend! That sounds like it would be a killer sleeper car too, something I can see me wanting to drive Anyways, this one's done, going now to post in the Under Glss section. Be kind,it had some mishaps that I may go back and correct, but as you know,I'm pretty anxious to get on a different project
Joe Handley Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Ok, that's weird, if I can ever get my hands on another Lebaron GTS, that's pretty much what I would, but would go with a built auto and maybe a BBS style wheel. Not sure how close they are as it had been a while since I had been under a K-Car, but it sure looked like the 4 wheel disks off my folks '06 Town and Country would be a close fit to the H and P body's I owned
Olskoolrodder Posted November 19, 2011 Author Posted November 19, 2011 If one was building one (I would,if circumstances were just right; ie: If money, space and I was able to crawl up under em like I used to be),that would definately be worth looking into. Seems to my eye the Labaron was a tad-bit longer, but it may very will have been body overhang rather than wheelbase.
