whale392 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) OK, since we have love for all of the other generations of Mustang going on, let's open our arms for the MustangII and its' derivatives! Let's have 'em in guys, give 'em some much deserved love (after all, if it hadn't been for the MustangII, all the hot-rodders of the 70s-80s and up to/including now wouldn't have a decent front end for their cars!). As with the other Mustang CBP threads going, this one will be open-ended so as to not exclude any who may want to participate after it closed. So build away and show/talk about them here! Chuck Most Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Just got rid of my last M2 kit, so I've got nothing to start on. If my 'Lack of Mustang II kit' situation looks up, I'd be more than willing to join in.
Rick Schmidt Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 This is my onliest Mustang II It be an MPC II hehe took a vintage Midnight Mustang and a Firefighter and made a street car Cut the front fender wells outta the Firefighter and grafted them onto the vintage body cause the vintage body was more correct unlike the Firefighters 74 nose and hood on a 78 body
Chuck Most Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I've been thinking of stuffing a '92 T-Bird 3.8 Supercharged V6 into an AMT '78 II for a while- keep this going and you might well sway me in the direction of actually following through with that plan.
whale392 Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 Follow through Chuck! Do it, you know you want to! Being open-ended, you have time to plot, scheme, connive, and weasel your way into building it!
Chuck Most Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 That's true! Besides, since there's no cut off date, I've got plenty of time to come up with all sorts of twisted ideas...
Maindrian Pace Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Here is an MPC '76 Cobra II kit that I bought from ebay as a built up about 5-6 years ago. It was built by a woman who sold her built kits there at the time, but hasn't in years. It's done as a fictitious GT-350H, because she worked for Hertz in those years, and she wondered what one would look like. She told me that the employees then used a common term, "Screw Avis", hence the license plates. She didn't remember where the wheels came from, but I've seen them before somewhere. EXP kit? And she put a Cleveland in it in place of the kit's 2.8 V6. I didn't do much to it, just polished the paint, straightened a few things out, and added a set of resin mirrors from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland. Since the pics were taken, I touched up the silver trim. -MJS
Chuck Most Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 (edited) I have a set of those wheels (well, three of them), they came in the MPC FWD Charger kit, of all things. (1983 annual kit is the one I have, not sure if other years had the same wheels). Wow- sorry for the poor quality pic! Edited November 10, 2011 by Chuck Most
whale392 Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 One of the guys in our car club had (might still have, as I moved away) a 78 King Cobra II that was stock looking until you really looked at it.......then it was just awesome! He built a roller 302 into a 347 stroker, converted a carbed intake to SEFI with the Ford EECIV controlling it, a WC T5, aluminum driveshaft shortened to fit, a narrowed Lincoln MKVII LSC 8'8" disc rear with trac-lok/3.73s, Heidts big brakes set-up for the Mustang II IFS, and a set of the Lincoln MKVII LSC Speedline 16" Meshes with the center webs painted Gold. Dual exhaust all the way back, short-throw shifter, and a lot of trick suspension bits..............looked stock until you looked at it! And that little 'Baby Snake' flat-out FLEW!
GTMust Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Great to see all these new Mustang CBP's! I've got too much "on my plate" right now to participate, but I'm glad it's open ended, as I'd love to get in later. I have the AMT Mustang II "python", the MPC FireFighter and the AMT "New" Mustang II (which I believe is the original 1974(?) release...... (Kit #T455). I'm not a great lover of the Mustang II, but after all, it's a Mustang! So this is a thread I'll be following with great interest. Keep up this great thread guys. Tony
Maindrian Pace Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I have a set of those wheels (well, three of them), they came in the MPC FWD Charger kit, of all things. Chuck Most Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I was the '80's... residual polyester poisioning from the previous decade, perhaps? I do have to say those wheels look great on the II, as does the Phantom Hurst paint scheme. Who'da thought?
Olskoolrodder Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I had one M II kit before the house fire,LOL! I dig the M II's myself, wouldn't mind owning one (one of them "MPG" models the had,for my daily while saving miles on the ragtop in my sig). I'll keep my eyes peeled on eBay for one when I has the extra scratch (probly after Christmas),as I've never built one in scale, should be fun. A MACH I,Cobra II,King Cobra,or heck even a Ghia MPG would be cool and different. Looing forward to seeing you guys getting going on your! And hey,a recent issue of the very magazine this forum is hosted by had an article on a new resin transkit that looked sweet for one of these...
454ss Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 my gf has a 77 m2 with a factory 302,auto,t-roof,fun little car to drive, she gets more looks with that than i get with my ss454,AND she has guys ask her what kind a car it is,
GTMust Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Built this Dobbs racing Mustang II sports racer (circa mid seventies) OOB from a Testor's kit back in the eighties. I haven't seen this kit around anywhere for quite a while. If anyone has it, it would make a great WIP as it was quite a well detailed kit, but could really use some superdetailing.
Chuck Most Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I'd love to see one of those Revell Monroe Shocks MII's built up? How tough are those to track down, I wonder...
Austin T Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 I came across a Mustang Cobra II cann am at the flea Market the other day by UsAirfix,I picked it up for 5 bucks and cracked it open once I got home.Sadly it wants you to put a little motorized engine in it,Other than that it has a great body.
madhorseman Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) Hey I saw someone put that body on a Revell-Monogram Trans Am Mustang chassis. Edited February 15, 2012 by madhorseman

Dirkpitt289 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 The gold on black combo is the best I've seen on the Mustang II. Sweet!
madhorseman Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) Thanks Bradley, the black one is a replica of my 1:1. Edited February 21, 2012 by madhorseman
GTMust Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Verry yummee! One of the nicest II's I seen. Both the model and the real thing..... Tony
