Kris Morgan Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Need a little info here. I bought a started 69 Jeepster. Overall the kit is in pretty good shape. However the chassis has been started and, is very poorly built ( about a tube of glue was used on it and, most of the parts are crooked.) I am wondering if the chassis from the Cammando kit is the same. Anyone know if it will work?
Art Anderson Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Kris, Do a little bit of online research here. Search for Jeep vehicle specs, particularly wheelbase--if the wheelbase of the '69 Jeepster and the Commando are the same, then most likely the frame is the same for both. In this, Google can be your very best assistant! Art
Chuck Most Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Should be- as far as I know, the only later model Jeepsters and Commandos were the MPC kits- which were later updated to the 'Bullnose' version reissued by Stevens International a few years back. Aside from the changes to convert the original second-gen to the Bullnose (which pretty much ended with the body) the chassis in all of those kits were the same.
Joe Handley Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 I'd expect the frames to be identical, IIRC the only difference in the 1/1's had been that aweful looking square nose on the commando. Sould even be able to put a true CJ or YJ nose on the 1/1 trucks too!
