Ira Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 Here is how the interior plate fits into the body.
Dr. Cranky Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 That looks like a perfect fit. I guess you are still a bit off from the painting stage. I did not know you were detailing the interior, which makes it even cooler now.
Ira Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 Ira, after looking at your web site, I'm floored. That is an amazing collection of one of a kind builds. On the scary side, you could be my twin except you're the one that got to keep some hair. Build on Brother, build on !! Thanks for the kind words Joe. Glad you liked the website!
Ira Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 Can't wait to see in paint! I haven't thought much about paint. Any Suggestions?
Ira Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 That looks like a perfect fit. I guess you are still a bit off from the painting stage. I did not know you were detailing the interior, which makes it even cooler now. Thanks Dr.! Yes, I still have more body work to do, planning to do a recessed license plate housing and maybe a couple other mods!
Ira Posted December 10, 2011 Author Posted December 10, 2011 I kept looking back at the fenders...and I finally noticed that the front and rear fenders were too close together! I decided to shorten the front fenders about 3/8", I marked the area to be cut off... Then I used a razor saw and an X-acto knife to cut the marked fender area out. I filled the open space with scrap plastic and glued it together with Zap-A-Gap. Here is the same area after a little bit of sanding...
rustybill1960 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 This is a "little" beauty Ira! Thank You for sharing
bobthehobbyguy Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Can't wait to see this color. Do you think this will be done for the NNL West in February? Bobthehobbyguy

James2 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 This is an inspiration, I have begun a DW Short Track 36 Ford because of you. Thanks for sharing, J2.
Ira Posted December 19, 2011 Author Posted December 19, 2011 Can't wait to see this color. Do you think this will be done for the NNL West in February? Bobthehobbyguy I haven't decided on colors yet, any suggestions? Yes this will be finished in time for NNL West!
bobthehobbyguy Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 I think it needs to be bright. Like a green or orange or red. Might look good in a two tone. Maybe black and red or black and lime green. bobthehobbyguy

Psychographic Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Looking good Ira. Those carbs and stacks look great. As ther is not a lot of body to work with, I'd paint that in a simple 2 tone, broken at the beltine and then follow the trunk line across the back. I'd do the topin that coppery orange pearl and the bottom purple.
James2 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 WOW!!! That's Great James, Thanks! Can you post some photos of your '36 Ford Short Tracker? This is all I have so far, I'll start a new thread as soon as I get a little more done...

Also thank you for the painting suggestion, I have been thinking about Candy Apple Green or Red with flames. I am fitting in custom interior seats and door panels from Revell's '59 Chevy, they will be white & a second color. Edited December 20, 2011 by Ira
Ira Posted December 20, 2011 Author Posted December 20, 2011 This is all I have so far, I'll start a new thread as soon as I get a little more done... WOW!!! That looks Great so far James! I have a couple of suggestions if you don't mind. You might consider shortening the hood & front fenders about 1/4" to 1/2", and you might add some width to the rear fenders. I'm really looking forward to seeing more progress on this one!
Ira Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 I made a recessed area for the license plate! I cut a rectangle out of the trunk with a Dremel Tool & an X-acto Knife. Then I cut a piece of "L" shape plastic strip the same width as the recessed area. After glueing the "L" strip in place, I covered the sides of the "L" strip with sheet plastic. Here is the recessed license area!
bobthehobbyguy Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Looks like you are getting really close to putting paint on this. Looking forward to seeing it in color. bobthehobbyguy
Danno Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Color? Well ... To be honest, Ira, I kept thinking ... this shape reminds me of something ... then, the moment I saw the overhead shot ... it came to me instantly! KERMIT!! That car looks like a FROG! Paint it candy apple green ... or bright lime green ... call it 'Kermit' or 'Kermy' ... and no one will think you missed the obvious! Looking good so far and I'm confident it will turn out great no matter what color scheme you settle on!
crazyjim Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 It does have a frog shape. Green would work - as long as it's SHINY :) Gotta sign off now. It's Friday night and I have to get ready for pizza, popcorn, and WWE Friday Night Smackdown. Have a great evening.
Ira Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 Now We've Got Some Legroom! I was looking for door panels for the DW Style Interior Plate on Willys Deal when I found this custom interior in Revell's 32 Ford Roadster. Turns out with a little cutting & fitting it fits Willys Deal real nice!
Ira Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 Looks like you are getting really close to putting paint on this. Looking forward to seeing it in color. bobthehobbyguy I usually wait till the last minute to decide on the colors. Sometimes I think picking colors is the hardest part of the build.
