Jesse D Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 First build. No skill, no detail or nothin. what do y'all think?
RodneyBad Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 For a first build. Looks perty darn good. A Primed up HotRod ready to go I'd say..
randx0 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Not bad for a first build. I like that you used two different colors of primer and the decals on the rear window .if you don't have a small brush try a silver sharpie to pick out some of the trim areas. what is your next one gonna be? or now that this is done what areas do you feel you want to improve on?
Jesse D Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 My puppy chewed most of it to hell. My next project is a 72 chevy pos in a similer pain scheme. it's not in good shape so the same amount of detail is in order. then maybe a 70 nova drag car. old pro to be specific. I'll ry the sharpie trick I never thought about that.
W-409 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 For being your first model, it's great. I like that idea of matt black and gray primer combination. Maybe next time try to paint those chrome trims, or BMF will work on them too, but maybe painting is easier if you are building only second model. And one way to improve... Give some black wash on the wheels, now they look quite unrealistic, just because they are fully chromed and there are no black shades anywhere. But nice model anyway, great job on the first one!
Jesse D Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 I had a set of flat black cragers for it but it seemed like too much black.
Cool Hand Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Good job for you first build I had a set of flat black cragers for it but it seemed like too much black. You can never have too much black IMO

Art Laski Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Jesse, Everybody has to start somewhere and you started off very nicely. Great job! -Art
surfjunke Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Very nice first build, Jesse. Hope you had fun & have more on the way. You can try 1 or 2 new tecknics per build & you WILL improve. Just take your time & enjoy yourself. Please remember to have fun. We all had to start somewhere. Welcome to a fun hobby!
Dr. Cranky Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Nice going, hope you will keep sharing your work with us.
SuperStockAndy Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 No way that's your first build Seriously though, that's awesome.
Jesse D Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 It most certainly Is. My dad is a self tought professional photographer.
dimaxion Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Where's the excess glue smeared all ovet the place ? The finger and hand prints are missing too ! The glass is clear and unmared ? First effort , wow . Please keep them coming . Thanx for sharing ...
Jesse D Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 I worked super hard to keep it clean. I used super glue if you can believe that. I was in school for automotive at the time so I know all about fingerprints ruining paint jobs.
TheCat Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 For your first model build ever. You did a really nice job. I like the Primed Hot Rod look. Keep up the great work.
