Tom I have a question for ya.When you sprayed the body, did you paint the brown first and after it dried did you mask around it to do the green or was it vice versa.I want to attempt to do some cars I have with a wood grain body and am not sure which way to go about it.Thanks for your tips.

Yes i did the brown first let dry then masked it off and shot the freen and after that masked all off and shot the black First time i did this and im happy with myself and the paint job!

Tom, that's one of my favorite street rods of all time, kit and 1/1. It looks great right out of the box, also. Did you put a textured finish on the top? I went with smooth semi-flat on mine, but that looks good, too. Looking cool so far! (Cruz, yours looks good just the way it is!) 8)

Like my buddy cruz says... sweeeeeeet!!!!!

Loks great Tom, are you sure this is the first time you mask and paint that way?

Man, the first time I did it, the model ended up so bad that my wife almost call the police squad, so they can secure the perimiter while the CSI guys arrive to identify the body and look for fingerprints on the spray cans...

What brand did you used for masking, Tamiya?

Thanks Tom!!!!

The first time I used tamiya tape it bleeded through; it took me a couple of "trial and error" to get a grip on it but at the end it came out nice. Congratulations again man, you are doing a GREAT job.

Hey Tom, too late, Lyle is actually the president of my club so you can just imagine  By the way, the wood accents are from a thin sheet of real wood with an adhesive in it. What I did was use the decals as templates. I am really looking forward to your build man, that is really what this post is about so forgive me for posting this one in it

That looks really sharp. I really like that color. How are you going to finish the wood? Once I figure out a way to do mine, I might build it myself. Keep us posted, I'd like to see what you are going to do with this one.

Marcos- So are you saying you put the wood on the outside of what is molded in?

No brother, I took off each existing panel with an x-acto knife, went out and bought some fine stock styrene sheet and glued it behind the body, had to do this so that the wood had the correct deepness against the body. A lot of work but the results are fantastic.............
